Posted: 18 May 2013 08:21 AM PDT

Cleveland, Ohio. Known for a burning river and terrible luck with its sports teams. A new thing Cleveland is becoming known for is its popularity in Hollywood with superhero movies. Star Trek Into Darkness opened for late evening and midnight screenings on Wednesday and after netting a combined total of $3.5 million for those, it went on to take $11.4 million on Thursday (its first full day of release). Yesterday however, the J.J. Abrams helmed sequel beamed up an additional $22 million, quite a bit lower than the predicted $25 - 27 million. Oh, and for those of you looking for yet another Iron Man 3 update, the Marvel Studios threequel managed to hold off competition from The Great Gatsby
