Simon Cowell Sets Record Straight on Calling Lady Gaga 'Boring' Posted: 30 Sep 2011 12:40 PM PDT Clearing the air on calling Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Katy Perry "boring," outspoken "X Factor" judge Simon Cowell told "Extra's" Terri Seymour, "I was making a point that they are a new generation of superstar acts," adding, "But if you couldn't see them visually, then it wouldn't be the same." Simon's "X Factor" debuted September 21 on FOX, and now an "X Factor" Verizon app is available. Cowell explained, "It literally does everything. This is live from the east coast, so this is exactly what people are saying." As Cowell worked his way through the app on a smart phone, he continued playfully, "What's this one? I can't read it... Denise... what's it say?" Terri replied, "No, we'll skip that one," before Cowell chimed in, "It says: 'Simon, you are hot.'" In a recent iHeart Radio Music Festival performance, fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger and "American Idol's" Steven Tyler shared a smooch on stage. Cowell commented, "You can't even tell which one's which." Catch "X Factor," Wednesdays on FOX. |

Iggy Pop Looks Back on 'Corrupt, Sham' Grammys and Grabbing Rock by the Balls Posted: 30 Sep 2011 03:30 PM PDT Filed under: Concerts and Tours, News, Exclusive, Spinner Interview STEPHANE DANNA, AFP/Getty Images Engaged, thoughtful and chuckling throughout the discussion, Pop remains one of rock's most interesting conversationalists. Check out our exclusive Q&A below. Has all of the attention that's been focused on the "Raw Power" album given you a sense of redemption? I know what you're saying. I always thought when I was doing it, that, quote unquote, "Kids would understand if only ..." Probably what I didn't realize was that it was just going to be another generation of kid! I was compelled to do it, so I didn't think about it too much. I certainly wasn't sitting around thinking "This is going to be better than Peter and Gordon. Look out Herman's Hermits or Young Rascals, Mamas and the Papas!" No, I never thought that. |

A Wet Dream on Elm Street Trailer Posted: 30 Sep 2011 12:13 PM PDT A new porn parody has arrived, this time spoofing Freddy Kruger and the iconic horror franchise A Nightmare on Elm Street. Say what you will about A Wet Dream on Elm Street, which is now available on DVD in Adult Shops across the country, it certainly looks better than the remake. To watch as Freddy and his new glove sends women into a pleasure coma, click on the clip below. (It may not be suitable for work or the young; but that's for you to decide.) Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project Trailer Posted: 30 Sep 2011 11:46 AM PDT The first trailer has arrived for Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project, which will be released in theaters on October 7. Click on the video player below for your first look at this new documentary, which explores the life of prolific movie producer Harvey Weinstein. Click to watch Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project Trailer!Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project is as much an examination of the last 25 years of the history of independent cinema as it is a story about Weinstein himself. Without Hollywood's "Last Bully", there would be no Pulp Fiction, no one would have known about that English patient, Rob Marshall would still be a chorus boy and Quentin Tarantino would be recommending Bruce Lee's greatest hits in some video store. Like a Hollywood rags to riches story with enough twists and turns that threaten to turn the riches back into rags, Harvey began his career in one of the most unglamorous places in the world, Buffalo. His rise from an improbable concert promoter along with eventual Rolling Stones Tsar Michael Cohl, to what some call the saviour of modern film has been nothing short of spectacular and controversial. |
Check Out The Adventures of Tintin Live-Action Trailers Posted: 30 Sep 2011 11:35 AM PDT On December 21st, director Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson will bring Hergé's internationally iconic comic book characters to the big screen with the motion capture mystery The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. But this isn't the first time Tintin, his faithful dog Snowy, Captain Haddock, and the rest of the gang have been immortalized in a big screen outing. The beloved characters were first brought to cinemas in the rarely seen 1947 black and white stop motion animated film The Crab with the Golden Claws. This was followed by two live action family movies: 1961's Tintin and the Golden Fleece and 1964's Tintin and the Blue Oranges. Both movies have served as inspiration for director Steven Spielberg, not only in bringing Tintin and his pals to life once again in theaters worldwide, but also in his earlier work. We have trailers for both live action Tintin movies below, and in the first clip, you may note that Steven Spielberg lifted a scene from Tintin and the Golden Fleece for his own 1982 classic Raiders of the Lost Ark. Is that Rene Belloq aiming a gun out the window at Tintin? Is there any question as to why The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn seems to hold the same spirit as the Indiana Jones movies? Check out the two films that served as inspiration for both The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn and director Steven Spielberg's other work below. COMICS: George Pérez No Longer On Writing Or Art Duties As Of Superman #7! Posted: 30 Sep 2011 12:04 PM PDT Newsarama reveal that George Pérez will no longer write or provide breakdown art for Superman, from #7 onward. The site has learned that the new creative team will be writer Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens on layouts and/or pencils. It is believed that Pérez may remain on the title as finisher/inker. Superman #1 opened up to very mixed reviews, with many criticizing the title as they did with Green Arrow #1 earlier this month. And what happened to that? Giffen took over from J.T. Krul as writer. Having read the issue myself, I definitely think this is for the best. The dialogue was very cheesy, the story itself was fairly unimpressive and after seeing how well Superman has been handled by every other writer during the relaunch, it was a shame to see his main title being such a massive let down! What did you guys make of it? And how do |

Michael Jackson Trial Day 4: The Cook, The Bodyguard and The Doctor Posted: 30 Sep 2011 12:09 PM PDT In the ongoing involuntary manslaughter trial against Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, testimony was heard Thursday from Jackson's cook, his bodyguard, and an executive for the maker of a medical device used by Murray to monitor the singer. The $275 fingertip device, which monitors the pulse and blood oxygen levels, was recovered after Jackson's death, and according to Nonin Medical executive Bob Johnson, it lacked the capability to continually monitor a patient because it had no audible alarm. A pair of Jackson staffers were also called to the stand to describe the chaotic scene at the mansion when the superstar was found unresponsive. Personal chef Kai Chase said she was preparing a spinach Cobb salad for Jackson when a panicked Murray came down a spiral staircase shouting for her to get security and the singer's son, Prince. "His energy was very nervous and frantic," said Chase, who added she ran to get Jackson's son in a nearby room. "I said, 'Hurry, Dr. Murray needs you. Something may be wrong with your father." Chase said later she and the children huddled together and prayed. "The children were crying and screaming," she said. "We started hugging. We came together, held hands and we began to pray." Bodyguard Alberto Alvarez said he ran to the scene after he got a call from Jackson's assistant. He was shocked to see the singer motionless. Alvarez also testified that Murray told him to put vials of medicine he scooped from Jackson's nightstand into a bag. Alvarez complied and also placed an IV bag into another bag, thinking they would be taken to the hospital. The bag never made it there. When questioned by the defense as to why it took Alvarez two months to report Murray's demands, the bodyguard said he didn't realize its significance until seeing a news report in late June in which he recognized one of the bags detectives were carrying out of Jackson's mansion. If convicted, Murray, 58, faces up to four years in prison and revocation of his medical license. |
