Movies That You Find Hilarious, But Don't Laugh At?

Posted: 01 Jul 2013 05:37 PM PDT

It sounds like nonsense, but I watched Airplane! for the first time last night, and I think it's one of the wittiest, funniest comedies I have ever seen... but I didn't really laugh at it, come to think of it. I just kind of quietly admired it's cleverness, knowing it was hilarious, but never acknowledging it aloud. The same goes for The Big Lebowski -- it's definitely on my Top Ten List of favorite movies, but when I watch it alone, I'm dead silent, as opposed to when I'm showing it to a friend, and I'm phoning in laughter out of some kind of... etiquette, I'd say.

Anyone relate?

A Plea for Hellboy III

Posted: 01 Jul 2013 07:15 PM PDT

Yes that rhymed.

No one has so embodied the role as Ron Perlman and Hellboy. His two time collaboration with Guillermo Del Toro. Perlman fills the role perfectly. From the deep gritty voice, to the strong jawline, Perlman brings life to a role few actors could ever achieve. !

We are given a once in a lifetime opportunity to use an actor born for a role. Ron Perlman must complete the Hellboy trilogy. I recently googled Perlman and found a few photos he recently took. Let's be honest, he's getting old, ALL great actors are.

Hollywood, the powers at work, do you see how good some of these actors are? We are BLESSED to have them in some of these franchises, bringing them to life in ways fans could never dream of. Hellboy III. Make it happen.

Shredder Gets a New Identity in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Posted: 01 Jul 2013 06:16 PM PDT

William Fitchner confirms Shredder is not Oroku Saki in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Last month, William Fichtner confirmed that he is playing the villain Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. When speaking to the press about his role in The Lone Ranger, in theaters July 3, the actor revealed that his character's given name is not what you may expect.

"I actually play a guy named Eric Sachs [Sounds like Sachs? Hard to understand] in the movie. And then he goes through a few stages in his existence. But Turtles is coming together very, very cool. There is a whole interesting dynamic that happens in the world of Turtles and all I can really say about it at this point while working on it is that the Turtle film, it's not like anything that I remember about the Turtles before. I feel like this Michael Bay-produced movie is just gonna really be something else. I'm pretty excited."

In the original comic books and animated series, Shredder's real name is Oroku Saki, and he is of Japanese descent. There were rumors that casting a Japanese actor for Shredder may have hurt the project's box office prospects in the all-important and rapidly-growing Chinese market. You need only look at how closely Michael Bay is working with China on Transformers 4 to know that this is 'based' in fact. It doesn't mean Japanese actors are no longer welcome in Hollywood. The Wolverine has a mostly Japanese cast. It's solely on projects like Transformers 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, where China is a co-producer or financier. We saw this with Iron Man 3 earlier in the summer, which had scenes shot specifically for the Chinese audience that weren't seen anywhere else.

When asked if Eric Sachs is actually Japanese, William Fichtner would not reveal any specifics.

"You know, uh, you know I think it would be much more exciting to find out these things as it unfolds."

An early, leaked draft of the screenplay last year revealed that this version of Shredder was a former military officer named Colonel Schrader, but that could have very easily been changed since then. Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans) is directing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is currently in production.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to theaters June 6th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn, William Fichtner. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

Nicolas Cage Joins Lost Melody for Bad Santa Director Terry Zwigoff

Nicolas Cage joins director Terry Zwigoff's Lost Melody

Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in Lost Melody for director Terry Zwigoff.

The story centers on a man stuck in a marriage to a shrew of a woman, whose life is upended when he falls in love with a prostitute. The man's wife and prostitute have not yet been cast at this time.

Terry Zwigoff is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Melissa Axlerod, who formerly served as the director's assistant on his 2003 comedy Bad Santa. Edward R. Pressman is producing, with Anthony Scaramucci and Jon Katz executive producing. Here's what Edward R. Pressman had to say about the project in a statement.

"When considering a project, I think it most important that the director and the film live in the same universe and Terry certainly achieves this with Lost Melody. I've always wanted to work with Terry and am excited to be teaming on a wonderful darkly-funny drama in the tradition of such classics as The Blue Angel and Sunset Boulevard."

No production schedule was given. Nicolas Cage recently lent his voice to The Croods, and will next be seen in The Frozen Ground. Terry Zwigoff's directorial credits include Ghost World, Bad Santa, and Art School Confidential.
