Ben Kinglsey On The Mandarin “Twist” In IRON MAN 3

Posted: 30 Apr 2013 10:59 AM PDT

As North America awaits this Friday's release of Iron Man 3, the acclaimed Marvel film has been rolling out in foreign markets, breaking records along the way, and unloading all the Shane Black-directed action. One of the film's most controversial aspects has been a twist involving Sir Ben Kingsley's portrayal of The Mandarin. The Huffington Post pressed the Oscar-winning thespian about the "twist," asking if he would have been more excited playing the villain straightforward. "Totally. Because the way that [screenplay writer] Drew [Pearce] and Shane constructed those political broadcasts, they're very well thought through. The attack on Western iconography, cultural values, historical context of imperialism -- all that weaponry at his command to manipulate and terrify his viewers with these broadcasts with which he interrupts the airwaves were very compelling indeed. I forgot all about the twist until I got to it in the script. I just read it page by

Lily James Cast As CINDERELLA

Posted: 30 Apr 2013 10:41 AM PDT

Walt Disney have just sent out a very brief press release announcing that Downton Abbey's Lily James will play Cinderella in their live action adaptation of the classic fairytale. Actress Lily James (Downton Abbey) has been cast as Cinderella in Disney's upcoming live-action interpretation of the beloved classic tale. The film is being directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh and stars Cate Blanchett as the iconic evil stepmother. Additional announcements regarding Cinderella are expected in the coming weeks. After Harry Potter actress Emma Watson passed, word was that either Bella Heathcoate, Lily James or Margot Robbie would secure the role, and it seems James (also seen in Wrath Of The Titans) was the one that the glass slipper fit best. Cate Blanchett is still on board as the Evil Queen, and last we heard Game Of Thrones actor Richard Madden (Robb Stark) is one of the names on the list to play the Prince.

Director Guillermo del Toro has decided to release the much-hyped Pacific Rim footage from WonderCon 2013, which was originally only intended to be viewed by audience members in Anaheim this past March. Watch as giant Jaegers tear into giant earth-destorying Kaiju monsters, using an aircraft carrier as a baseball bat, then read on for the official statement from Guillermo del Toro himself.

Pacific Rim - WonderCon Trailer

"This was originally intended for only WonderCon, but after listening to so many of you asking for more of the movie online, I think it's time for me to show you more footage. Enjoy, my friends!

- Guillermo del Toro"

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

This film has been rated PG-13 for sequences of intense sci-fi action and violence throughout, and brief language.

Pacific Rim comes to theaters July 12th, 2013 and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, Robert Kazinsky. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Thanos Is Being Saved for The Avengers 3 Teases Joss Whedon

Posted: 29 Apr 2013 10:18 AM PDT

Joss Whedon hints that Thanos may not be used in The Avengers 2

Director Joss Whedon teased that the upcoming sequel The Avengers 2 may not revolve around the villain Thanos, who was revealed at the very end of last year's Marvel's The Avengers.

Here's what the filmmaker had to say about possibly saving the villain for the finale, The Avengers 3.

"Well, Thanos is more powerful. He is so powerful he is not someone you can just try out and punch him. Like he did in the comics, you want him to be threading through the universe and to save the big finale for 'the big finally'. He is definitely a part of what I have got going on. The thing about the Avengers is that they are very powerful but not very stable. So, there will definitely be some people that will shake them up in the next installment."

When asked about Robert Downey Jr.'s future playing Tony Stark, after recent comments that he may 'retire' the character, the filmmaker had this to say.

"I am not the guy who should worry about him being replaced. He is Iron Man at this point. When I heard that he was cast I just knew that something had changed, and I don't usually know stuff like that. I said 'Now we are in a new phase.' The way he embodies it... I love working with him. (Iron Man 3 director) Shane (Black) captures it so perfectly in this movie. I want him to play it forever. The thing is that he has a flying metal suit. It Is not like in those Charles Bronson or Roger Moore movies, when you are like 'Dude, you can barely stand.' He's got some fight in him. At the same time, if Robert decides to hang it up, he has a perfectly good excuse."

If Thanos isn't the main villain in The Avengers 2, who is? What do you guys think? Who do you want to see going up against the Avengers as a team when they return in 2015?

clickHere to watch Joss Whedon's full video interview.

The Avengers 2 comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Mark Ruffalo. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Colin Firth in Talks for Matthew Vaughn's The Secret Service

Colin Firth is in talks to star in The Secret Service

Colin Firth is in talks to star in the Mark Millar comic book adaptation The Secret Service. We reported in March that 20th Century Fox is distributing.

The Oscar-winning actor will play Uncle Jack, an MI6 spy who takes his nephew Gary under his wing to teach him the ropes, in hopes the youngster will change his ways and become an MI6 agent. The role of Gary has yet to be cast. Mark Millar described the story as a cross between James Bond and My Fair Lady.

Matthew Vaughn is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Jane Goldman, based on the Mark Millar comic book series. Our report from last month revealed that Fox is putting this project on the fast track, with an August production start date tentatively scheduled.

Colin Firth can currently be seen in the indie drama Arthur Newman, which opened in theaters last weekend.

The Secret Service comes to theaters November 14th, 2014 and stars Colin Firth. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Carrie Fisher Gets a Personal Trainer for Star Wars: Episode VII

Posted: 29 Apr 2013 10:10 AM PDT

Carrie Fisher reveals more about her involvement with Star Wars: Episode VII

Kathleen Kennedy's 'no secrets' policy regarding Star Wars: Episode VII is in effect. Carrie Fisher visited the Calgary Comic Expo this weekend and once again 'officially' confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Princess Leia in J.J. Abrams' upcoming sci-fi sequel.

But that's not all. She also revealed that Disney is sending a personal trainer to her house, so that she can get in top shape for the role.

"I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before. I'm glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape. So I'm really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it I will have eaten everything."

She also talked about kissing Harrison Ford as Han Solo in the original trilogy.

"Here's the thing: There's a difference between screen kissing and life kissing. Harrison doesn't like screen kissing. I believe one time he put an oyster in his mouth. Not with me, he just told me about that so I'd behave myself. So, not so great onscreen. But we were playing spin-the-bottle and he was better."

She wrapped up the interview by talking about choking Jabba the Hutt to death.

"What was his name? Jabba the Hut? I always get his name mixed up with other boyfriends. Oh God, I loved doing that. You know, they ridiculously asked me if I wanted a stunt double to kill Jabba the Hut. Can you imagine? I got to saw that neck off, it was really, really fun and one of the highlights of my career."

Star Wars: Episode VII comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.
