Youth Lagoon's 'Wondrous Bughouse' Inspired by OCD-Like 'Fear of Death'

Youth Lagoon Trevor Powers Wondrous BughouseJosh Darr

Trevor Powers didn't have the faintest idea where he was when he woke up from a nap in the band van when Spinner called him between recent shows. Powers -- who performs under the stage moniker Youth Lagoon -- went from the frigid plains of Montana to Salt Lake City to Colorado then Brooklyn over the course of nine days, all for the sake of celebrating Wondrous Bughouse, Youth Lagoon's second album. A brief stop in Austin for SXSW was on the agenda as well, as is a detour to southern California for Coachella and an opening set for the National at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, which will wrap up the tour officially in June. After taking the geographically sprawling string of dates that makes up this massive touring effort for Youth Lagoon into consideration, it's easy to see how the destinations can blur together -- and it's also amazing to find Powers thriving on the road, despite his grueling schedule.

"When things are so fresh, it's so exciting," he says, after laughingly confirming he's on in Colorado. "The whole writing process with this record was similar [to 2010's The Year of Hibernation] in some ways, and in others it was way different because it was almost like I was trying to expand a certain area of my consciousness or something. I was really trying to just let things come out that want to come out, to try not to overthink things in any sort of sense. I was just trying to explore new areas. It makes it way more interesting live because it's that similar atmosphere of exploration. With stuff in my subconscious, I'm just trying to write in a way that would try to express things that I guess were built up inside of me that I didn't really know how else to express and just trying to do that through music."

D.J. Cotrona Dishes Details On His Superman Suit For Cancelled JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 10:58 AM PDT

We previously heard comments from D.J. Cotrona's regrets about not moving on to don the Superman suit for Warner Bros.' now defunct Justice League: Mortal, and during an interview with Cinema Blend, the G.I. Joe: Retaliation actor talks more about the DC Comics ensemble. He's asked about the costume that he was going to wear, and he offers nothing but praise for the suit. He says that his Superman would've been a full-on alien god in the movie, and the suit set off that tone. He also says that Supes' relationship with Batman (who would've been played by Armie Hammer) in Mortal was one that he always wanted to see. The rest of the film's cast included Common as Green Lantern, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Adam Brody as The Flash, Hugh Keays-Byrne Martian Manhunter, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul and Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord.

Alex Lynch Reviews: THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY [Blu-Ray/Special Features]

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 10:42 AM PDT

Growing up, I just couldn't get into The Lord of the Rings mythology. I tried the books, I tried to movies and I tried the games. The only thing that actually really kicked with me was the video game Return of the King, which was spectacular in almost every way and I'm still playing it to this day. Even though I didn't like the LOTR movies, I always looked up to Aragorn and Gandalf as iconic figures and great heroes despite not knowing too much about them. Someday I'm going to go through the Rings saga again because they really do have an incredible cast of characters, but I was more focused on action-packed Sci-Fi like Star Wars. When The Hobbit was announced , I brushed it off and totally forgot it even existed until a trailer came out, and surely enough my feelings about the cast (Martin Freeman, specifically) gave

Jolie has opened a girls-only school, E! News reports, located in an area just outside Kabul, a region that traditionally favors educating boys rather than girls.

"Beyond enjoying the artistic satisfaction of designing these jewels, we are inspired by knowing our work is also serving the mutual goal of providing for children in need," Jolie told E! of the jewelry line.

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 10:11 AM PDT

Amid a press roundtable for the veteran actor's latest directional effort, political thriller The Company You Keep, Spinoff Online spoke with Robert Redford about his role in Marvel Studios' own upcoming "political thriller," Captain America: The Winter Soldier. While his role was reported as a senior leader of the Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson)-directed S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, Redford clarifies, "Well, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The head of S.H.I.E.L.D," Reiterating why he's joining the Marvel sequel, he added, "The Captain America thing is just a very simple thing. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something just to be different. Something bold, different. And that felt like a good thing to do. That was it, nothing more to it than that. Well, it's bold in terms of expectations, I guess." Meanwhile, IMDB recently added another S.H.I.E.L.D.-affiliated character, established in the comics as Jack Rollins, set to be portrayed by Callan Mulvey.
