Yesterday (April 19), we interviewed a bunch of Coachella's DJs about their week off between festival appearances. Despite the various hotel pools, mountains and deserts in the immediate vicinity, most of of the artists we polled, including Paul Oakenfold, Eric Prydz and Paul Kalkbrenner, returned to their studios, toured or played their usual Vegas residencies.

The answers we received were pretty tame, so we called up a bunch of bands -- Japandroids, DIIV, JEFF the Brotherhood and Wild Nothing -- and heard some decidedly more exciting occounts.

"The last few days we just spent going on a spirit journey in the desert," JEFF the Brotherhood guitarist/vocalist Jake Orrall told us. "We took two days to just go to Joshua Tree and just mellow out, climb on some rocks and shit. [Touring Guitarist] Karl started a cult in Joshua Tree. All these fine young ladies. It was pretty wild. I just kind of watched from the distance. I don't take part in anything like that."

Clark Gregg Talks Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Return of Agent Coulson

Posted: 20 Apr 2013 10:20 AM PDT

Clark Gregg talks Agent Coulson's return in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In the wake of Marvel's The Avengers and the death of Agent Coulson, many speculated that he was either returning as The Vision, or that his death had been a set up to motivate this team of superheroes into action. Adding to the mystery was the announcement of Agent Coulson's return in ABC's upcoming drama series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Clark Gregg confirmed that he was assuming the role this past October while visiting NYCC 2012. None of the questions about his death were ever answered, though. That mystery is being left for the pilot. But the actor has come forward to talk about his continuation of the fan-favorite character, and hints that The Avengers may have been deceived.

"It was hard to miss the moment where that Asgardian bastard stabs me quite thoroughly. I was a little heartbroken. But it's the comics, so, you know, that's a different form of dead.

There was people talking about, was he gonna come back as The Vision? We never saw the body. The cards were in the locker. There was a lot of people talking about the Blu-ray, the English Blu-ray, you didn't see the spear come through Coulson.

I was very curious, but also wasn't sure I was necessarily down with it. I don't want to do anything to undermine the integrity of The Avengers. When Joss described to me the mystery that takes place in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the complexity and the unanswered questions about Phil Coulson standing there trying to deal with this, I found it so fascinating and so true to the world of the comics and mythology in general as I understand them that I was immediately in."

The actor then admitted that his death in Marvel's The Avengers may have been a set-up, and there will be retribution and payback from the team.

"It would be surprising to me if this was a world where there wasn't some reckoning for the fact that it'd be ... you know, some level of deception must have been perpetrated on the Avengers."

Tom Hiddleston in Talks for The Crow

Posted: 20 Apr 2013 09:32 AM PDT

The Crow eyes Tom Hiddleston as murdered rocker Eric Draven

Marvel's The Avengers star Tom Hiddleston, who played the villain Loki, is in early talks to take the lead role in The Crow.

The actor will play rock star Eric Draven, who is murdered and returns from the grave to seek revenge on his killers. The film is based on James O'Barr's popular comic book series, which sprang to life as a live action movie in 1994 with Brandon Lee in the lead. No true sequel was ever made after Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, died on set. But this reboot is a little less precious amongst fans, due to plenty of straight-to-video follow-ups that came in the wake of the original, each with a different leading man.

Tom Hiddleston recently had dinner with the producers of this long-gestating remake after sending in a make-up test he did on his own from London. He is set to undergo a real make-up test in the coming week. Relativity Media believes that the actor will be a popular choice amongst comic book fans. And he is currently being considered for his ability to play both light and dark, sometimes within the same character.

Before the Fall director F. Javier Gutierrez is behind the remake, with Cliff Dorfman writing this version of the screenplay. A remake of The Crow has been in the works for a while, with Bradley Cooper and Mark Wahlberg both formerly interested in the project.

What do you think? Is Tom Hiddleston finally the right choice for Eric Draven? Are you bummed that Bradley Cooper and Mark Wahlberg aren't taking on the challenge? Is there anyone else you'd want to see assume the role?

The Crow is in development . The film is directed by F. Javier Gutiérrez.
