John Cusack, Julianne Moore and Sarah Gadon Join Maps to the Stars

John Cusack joins the cast of Maps to the Stars

Entertainment One Films ("eOne") will handle worldwide sales and distribution in all media and co-finance with Martin Katz's Prospero Pictures the upcoming thriller Maps to the Stars from award-winning director David Cronenberg. Production on the film will begin this July in Toronto and Los Angeles.

The film's all-star cast includes Julianne Moore (The Kids Are All Right, Game Change, Children of Men), John Cusack (2012, Identity, Being John Malkovich), Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga series, Water for Elephants) and Sarah Gadon (A Dangerous Method, Antiviral).

Here's what Entertainment One's Patrice Theroux had to say in a statement.

"We're thrilled to secure worldwide sales rights for Maps to the Stars and add it to the lineup in four of our core territories. David is a visionary who continues to attract top talent with his unique style and the masterful quality of his filmmaking. With this all-star cast Maps to the Stars is a very exciting international project and we're looking forward to introducing the project in Cannes."

Prospero Pictures' Martin Katz also released his own statement.

"Maps to the Stars marks Prospero's fourth collaboration with David over the past decade and together with our partners, we are delighted to be launching this audacious new film this year, particularly with eOne. The eOne team just gets it and continues to showcase films at the highest levels on the international stage."

From a provocative original screenplay by noted Los Angeles author and screenwriter Bruce Wagner (Wild Palms), Maps to the Stars is both a haunting ghost story and a scathing attack on the celebrity-obsessed society of LA.

The film is being produced by Prospero Pictures' Martin Katz together with SBS Productions' Sa&#239d Ben Sa&#239d. Sentient Entertainment's Renee Tab, Cronenberg's manager, will executive produce. Integral Films' Alfred H&#252rmer is co-producing.

eOne will directly distribute Maps to the Stars in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia/NZ. eOne Films International will sell the rest of the world. eOne's Benedict Carver is executive producing and will oversee the film for the studio.

Katz previously collaborated with Cronenberg on Spider, A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis and was Executive Producer of Martin Katz. Ben Sa&#239d produced Carnage and Possession. Tab executive produced Cosmopolis and brought both A History of Violence and Eastern Promises to the filmmaker while representing him as an agent at ICM.

Maps to the Stars comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Sarah Gadon. The film is directed by David Cronenberg.

Warner Bros. Once Courted Will Smith To Star In LOBO

Posted: 18 Apr 2013 09:54 AM PDT

Here's a very, very interesting "what if?" scenario. In their article reporting the actor's negotiations to star in Warner Bros.' Focus, The Hollywood Reporter adds a small note about the studio's desire to reteam with Will Smith, who starred in 2007's I Am Legend. The site says that WB has courted Smith (who will next be seen in June 7th's After Earth) for several projects, and one of these was none other than Lobo, one of several DC Comics adaptations said to be in development. Presumably, Smith was being targeted to play the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter before Dwayne Johnson (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) entered talks to take on the role. Despite being interested in the project (which would've seen his reteaming with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton), "The Rock" more recently stated that the film "just went away", suggesting that Lobo is no longer in active development. 21 Jump Street 2 confirmed for 2014 release

Sony Pictures confirmed during its CinemaCon presentation earlier today that 21 Jump Street 2 will hit theaters in 2014.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will reprise their 21 Jump Street roles as Schmidt and Jenko, two rookie cops who join an undercover program that sends them back to high school. 21 Jump Street earned over $200 million worldwide last year, making it one of the biggest comedy hits of the year.

We reported in January that Dave Franco will likely return as Eric Molson, although his involvement has not been confirmed at this point.

Last February, a month before the original 21 Jump Street hit theaters, Jonah Hill confirmed that he is working on the screenplay with co-writer Michael Bacall. Production will likely begin sometime later this year.

21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have not been confirmed to return at this time. They are currently working on The Lego Movie, but there may be room in their schedule to return.

21 Jump Street 2 comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Dave Franco.

"The songs they played, to me they seemed like they were going further into a Talking Heads' Fear of Music vibe," Lasek tells Spinner, referencing the Heads' 1979 album.
