History's The Bible Miniseries to Get a 3-Hour Theatrical Release

Posted: 22 Apr 2013 11:58 PM PDT

History's The Bible is getting a theatrical release

History Channel's blockbuster mini-series The Bible will be getting a theatrical release. The seven-and-a-half hour show will be shortened into a three-hour epic.

The producers are planning a fall 2013 release. While there have been many offers from studios and distributors, the theatrical version of The Bible does not have a studio home at this time.

Here's what producer Mark Burnett had to say about getting the 3-hour re-cut onto theater screens.

"We're in the position where it's just a matter of choosing. We could put it into arenas. There are a lot of possible choices we could go with. We kind of operate outside the business, we do our own thing. It's a good position to be in."

Mark Burnett and Roma Downey produced the 10-part mini-series, which retold the stories of the Bible for a new generation. It was narrated by Keith David and starred Diogo Morgado, Roma Downey, Andrew Scarborough and William Houston.

The Bible was viewed by 100 million people in the United States and tens of millions more worldwide. When asked how he knew the mini-series would be so popular, Mark Burnett offered the following statement as an explanation.

"All of those people who rolled their eyes three years ago and said nobody's going to watch The Bible on TV, well, they were wrong. But I wasn't surprised. I knew it would work like it did. It was God's voice. Too many things happened to see it any other way."

A planned release date has not yet been announced.

Gwyneth Paltrow Confirms That Her Contract With Marvel Ended After IRON MAN 3

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 10:19 AM PDT

While it was widely assumed that Gwyneth Paltrow was another star who had been signed up for a ridiculous number of Marvel movies, she has now told Empire Online that her contract expired with Iron Man 3! "My deal is over as well," she revealed when asked whether she think Robert Downey Jr. will make a return as the armoured Avenger. "When they signed us, they signed us for three. So that's it for the moment, but you never know." However, wasn't The Avengers her third appearance as Pepper Potts?! It turns out that she actually did that as a favour (although it would obviously be more than a little naive to assume she wasn't paid for the privilege). "The Avengers happened late. It was Robert who said that Pepper has to be in this movie or it's just giant snakes coming out of the sky. We need one grounded beat.

Kevin Feige Confirms DAREDEVIL Rights Are Back With Marvel

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 10:03 AM PDT

We had assumed as much anyway after Fox failed to meet the deadline to get a new Daredevil movie going and lost out on the rights to the character, but we had never heard anything official from either studio on the matter until now. Speaking with Newsarama yesterday at the Iron Man 3 press junket, Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige confirmed to the site that the Daredevil rights are indeed now under the Disney/Marvel umbrella. Although that seems to be all he had to say on the matter as Newsarama report: "While Feige told us about the rights reversion, he gave no indication of what, if anything, Marvel Studios has planned for Daredevil at this point." Good news, but I think it'll be a while before we see the character on the big screen again. If anything I think a Marvel tv series is more likely. What about you

The Wolverine Japanese Trailer

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 10:16 AM PDT

A face from Logan's past offers an intriguing proposition in the Japanese trailer for The Wolverine. Hugh Jackman returns as the title character, who suddenly finds himself without the same ability to heal while battling samurai warriors in Japan. It's worth noting that the Japanese title for this action-thriller is Wolverine: Samurai, and, as you can see here, there is plenty of samurai action in this sequel from director James Mangold.

The Wolverine comes to theaters July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima. The film is directed by James Mangold.
