Peter Dinklage Joins X-Men: Days of Future Past; Will He Play Puck?

Posted: 14 Feb 2013 10:27 AM PST

Director Bryan Singer has announced that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of his upcoming superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. He shared the news with all of his followers on Twitter.

Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN#DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!

— Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) February 14, 2013

Peter Dinklage confirmed for X-Men: Days of Future Past

The actor's role has not been confirmed, but most fans are speculating that he will play Puck, the dwarf member of Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight. It is not clear if 20th Century Fox holds the rights to Alpha Flight or its characters. The members have close ties to Wolverine, who is also Canadian, and they are said to be that country's answer to Marvel's The Avengers.

It should be noted that Puck, real name Eugene Milton Judd, was not a mutant, but a regular man with extraordinary fighting and acrobatic skills. It was later revealed that he had a demon living inside of him that gave him mystical powers, and caused him great pain. Alpha Flight doesn't play a major role in the original X-Men: Days of Future Past comic book storyline. Is it possible that he is going to simply cameo as Puck in the ultimate Mutant showdown? Is 20th Century Fox gearing up for an Alpha Flight movie?

In further speculation, Bryan Singer recently announced that one of the characters in this Mutant adventure would be fully CGI, which has lead some to believe that Peter Dinklage may be playing this charcter via Mo-Cap, and will not be playing one of Marvel's few dwarf characters.

Who do you want to see Peter Dinklage play in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters in 2014 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

American Idol: The Best Group Performances from the Girls

American Idol | Photo Credits: Michael Becker/Fox

American Idol highlighted the first Hollywood Week performances from the girls on Wednesday night, when several contestants were eliminated following solo and group competition.

As it did with the guys last week, the show breezed through the first solo and group rounds in its two-hour broadcast, focusing on the highs and lows. Predictably, once the groups were formed, tensions ran high. There were tears and vomiting, and lots of contestants left the judges thoroughly unimpressed by actually writing lyrics on their hands and arms to remember them (it didn't work most of the time). And of course, there were catfights. But, amid the chaos, there were actually a few good group auditions. In each of our favorite groups, all four team members advanced to the next round of solo competition.

Ruben Fleischer to Direct Spy Hunter for Warner Bros.

Posted: 14 Feb 2013 10:09 AM PST

Warner Bros. moving forward with Spy Hunter

Warner Bros. is finally moving forward on the long-gestating plans to adapt Midway's action-packed video game adaptation Spy Hunter for the big screen, with Ruben Fleischer confirmed to direct.

The game's storyline centers on Alec Sects, a F-15 pilot trained by the FBI, who attempts to bring down Israeli-based international company Nostra. Founded by Daemon Curry, the company is plotting to take over the world by knocking out earth's vast supply of electricity.

Carter Blanchard is writing the screenplay, while Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing. Ruben Fleischer is best known for helming this past January's Gangster Squad and the cult-classic Zombieland.

Universal Pictures was originally behind this Spy Hunter adaptation, which had John Woo attached to direct and Dwayne Johnson starring as Alec Sects. The studio put the project on hold after the action star dropped out way back in 2005. Paul W.S. Anderson, known for producing and directing several installments of Resident Evil, the highest grossing video game based franchise in the world, also took a shot at making the film. That version gained little traction at the studio, and it was abandoned.

It is possible, now that the movie is moving forward, that Dwayne Johnson could return to play Alec Sects. Though, Warner Bros. may go with a younger actor. Maybe Taylor Lautner? What do you guys think?

No production schedule has been released. It is not known when the movie may finally arrive at the cinemas.

Spy Hunter is in development .

Hugh Jackman to Take a Break from Wolverine After X-Men: Days of Future Past

Hugh Jackman talks life after X-Men: Days of Future Past

Hugh Jackman recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and discussed his plans for life after X-Men: Days of Future Past. With this sequel being his sixth appearance as Wolverine, this installment is the last he is committed to appear in.

Here is the actor discussing how he came to find out about the sequel.

"I first heard about it around October or November. I was literally finishing 'The Wolverine' and dreaming about lasagna, and about three weeks before the end, they told me. There was no way I was not going to be part of that.

He goes on to talk about how he wants to get back home and spend time with his family in New York's West Village.

"I told my agent, after 'Days of Future Past', I need to be home."

He went on to say that he has not read the full screenplay and that he has only read the eight page synopsis.

Production is slated to begin in April in Montreal.
