COMICS: KICK-ASS 3 Coming This May

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 09:44 AM PST

We don't have too many details on the story, but Millar has dropped a few tidbits recently. "Kick-Ass 3 teasers: Hit-Girl locked up in psychiatric ward, Dave working in a comic store & superheroes illegal. Plus internet dating!" The writer has also said that we shouldn't get too attached to any of the characters as thing will get quite bloody and not everyone will survive until the end. By the way he was talking it sounded to me like he was talking about the demise of Hit-Girl, but that's just my own assumption. Anyway, as the above teaser reveals, the final storyline for young Kick-Ass and his pals will launch in May from Millar and Romita Jr. Not surprisingly, just one month before the release of the Kick Ass 2 film.

Han Solo and Boba Fett to Get Stand-Alone Star Wars Movies!

Han Solo and Boba Fett to get stand-alone Star Wars movies

A rumor from yesterday claimed that Yoda was going to be the first character in the Star Wars universe to get his own stand-alone spin-off movie. Shortly thereafter, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Disney and Lucasfilm were working on a series of one shot movies that would be based on popular preexisting characters, and that these films would be staggered amongst the release of the new trilogy, which kicks off with Star Wars: Episode VII in 2015.

Amongst all of this news from yesterday was the rumor that Boba Fett and Han Solo would be getting their own one-off movies, and that George Lucas himself had pitched an adventure revolving around Jabba the Hutt. Today, an inside source at Disney and Lucasfilm is confirming that both a Boba Fett movie and a Han Solo movie are in the works, and will be released before the end of 2019.

The Han Solo movie will reveal the origins behind the fan favorite smuggler, with a much younger actor stepping in to replace Harrison Ford. The story will take place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, with the possibility of Harrison Ford appearing as a framing device, much like Elijah Wood was used in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The Boba Fett movie will follow the bounty hunter on one of his most dangerous missions, and will feature a rogue's gallery of galactic side characters. His film will take place between Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. The casting of Boba Fett won't be as scrutinized as a young Han Solo, as the character wears a helmet most of the time. Temuera Morrison played the man Boba Fett is cloned from in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, and he is the right age to return in the role.

Both of these stand-alone films will allow for Darth Vader to return as the main villain. The timeline of both films will also allow for an appearance by Jabba the Hutt, which is rumored to be at George Lucas's behest. Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg were confirmed to be writing these spin-off movies by Bob Iger in his comments from yesterday.

At this time, there are no directors currently being eyed for either project. Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston remarked during the release of that film that a Boba Fett movie would be his dream project. He served as a stunt coordinator and second unit director on Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, and has worked with Boba Fett before. He also designed the iconic Boba Fett costume.

Robert Rodriguez has made it clear that he would love to direct the stand-alone Han Solo movie, but Lucasfilm had no comment.

Disney has declined to comment on this latest information, and the insider source says this is all still in the planning stages and could be expanded upon further. The question now is, who do you want to see play a young Han Solo? Zac Efron? Liam Hemsworth? Shia LaBeouf? Or should Disney do a hardcore search for a relative unknown, much as Harrison Ford was when he took the role?

Star Wars: Episode VII comes to theaters in 2015.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: Did Christopher Nolan Get it Right?

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 09:44 AM PST

by Vic Frederick. Even in the shadow of the superhero powerhouse film The Avengers that came out just months beforehand (April 2012), the triumphant film of June 2012 The Dark Knight Rises was indeed a success, as most would agree; "success" being defined as positive reception, profits, and lasting appeal. The "Dark Knight Trilogy," as it has come to be called, created a universe with its own uniqueness and appeal, separate from all its predecessors. In the epic finale of this artistic and idealistic story arc, moviegoers see the conclusion of a journey; an end to a mission. A mythos that has been all but open-ended in every known depiction has for the first time been contained in a comprehensive three-part saga. This ending, which evoked tears of sadness along with cheers of praise, satisfied many followers, but could it have been better? Did Christopher Nolan capture the true essence of

[Quote supplied by Engadget] Video game adaptations appear to be in a bit of a resurgence with recognizable talent signing up for films such as: World of Warcraft--Duncan Jones to direct, Johnny Depp rumored to star Need for Speed -- Scott Waugh to direct, Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots and Michael Keaton to star

First Two Stand Alone Films From STAR WARS To Be Based On Han Solo And Boba Fett

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 09:03 AM PST

After yesterday's news broke that Disney would be looking to branch our the Star Wars name and produce solo movies based on characters in the universe, some new details have popped up on who the movies will be based on. According to Entertainment Weekly, the first movies out side the saga will be based on cargo smuggler Han Solo and bounty hunter Boba Fett. EW's source says the Han film will take place between Revenge of The Sith and A New Hope. While they didn't rule out a Harrison Ford return in some way shape or form, this means get ready for a new and younger Han. Ford was 35 when he first appeared in A New Hope, so presumably it will be someone even younger than that. The Boba Fett film on the other hand has two possible time lines. They are looking at putting the film between A New Hope and

Ethan Wate, 17, has had the same recurring dream for months. A mysterious young girl is waiting for him on a Civil War battlefield. Ethan desperately wants to be with her, but there is an unknown danger-and each time a lightning bolt cracks like a gunshot, killing Ethan before he ever reaches the girl.

The danger of this strange dream world, however, is preferable to Ethan's waking existence in Gatlin, South Carolina, a small, conservative Southern town that hasn't caught up to the 21st century, where nothing ever changes and nothing ever happens. Trapped at home with a father who has completely withdrawn since the sudden death of Ethan's mother, Ethan yearns for a life he can only read about in books.

But Ethan's mundane world is shaken up with the arrival of Lena Duchannes, the beautiful and enigmatic niece of Macon Ravenwood, the reclusive owner of gothic Ravenwood Manor. Ethan finds himself immediately drawn to Lena, even though destruction seems to inexplicably follow her and it becomes apparent that she is a Caster, with powers beyond her control. The town, led by conservative Mrs. Lincoln, wants her banished. Even Gatlin's all-knowing librarian, Amma, is afraid history may repeat itself-a history of family secrets and a curse that looms for Lena as she approaches her 16th birthday. It is that time when a Caster is chosen by the forces of either the Light or the Dark.

But Lena's fate may already be sealed by the curse that draws both her and Ethan into a tangled web of spells and peril from which there may be no escape.
