Guillermo del Toro reveals more details about Dark Universe

Last month, Guillermo del Toro confirmed he is working on a DC Comics ensemble project entitled Dark Universe, that brings characters such as Swamp Thing, Jason Blood, John Constantine, Deadman, Demon Etrigan, and many more together. The filmmaker revealed that he is about to pitch his take to Warner Bros. and DC, along with a mystery writer he would not reveal the identity of.

"I am going to be presenting my storyline to DC and Warners of where I want to take this universe. We do have a writer, but until that is firmed up, I have to keep it a secret. I hope it happens. It's going really really well. It's like meeting old friends. I grew up with Demon Etrigan, with Swamp Thing, with Deadman, so these are characters that are near and dear to my heart. I'd love to use the origins that are proper to each character. I love the idea of Jason Blood as a paladin and a knight.... I love the entire Constantine mythology, the Dead Man mythology, the Alex Holland Swamp Thing mythology. These are really rich things to well, and to dig."

The article also refers to the project as Justice League Dark, although that title has not been confirmed. Our previous story also mentioned heroes such as Zatanna, Zatara, and The Spectre. No production schedule has been given, but hopefully this gets the green light very soon.

Dark Universe is in development . The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Janet Montgomery Cast As Grace Van Helsing In ABC Pilot GOTHICA

Posted: 26 Feb 2013 09:36 AM PST

Deadline report that Made In Jersey/Human Target actress Janet Montgomery has been cast as Grace Van Helsing in ABC's Gothica, which will re-imagine some classic horror icons, giving us a present-day take on the legends of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray. So far so Alan Moore's League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen right? Well, modern day setting aside, yes. Apparently Montgomery's Van Helsing will be a "Pulitzer prize winning journalist from New York who takes over her family's hometown newspaper". The show will also star Chris Egan as Dorian Gray, who provides her with the $20 million she needs to retain control of the paper, and To Ellis as Victor Frankenstein, to whom Van Helsing was engaged. No word yet on whether any other, more supernatural, characters will be popping up, but I'd say it's a safe bet.
