J.J. Abrams On His Love Of STAR WARS; "It Was Like Another Echelon Of Mind Expansion"

Posted: 31 Mar 2013 11:07 AM PDT

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, J.J. Abrams reveals that he is a HUGE fan of Downton Abbey. Far more interesting to us however is his love of Star Wars. After reinventing the Star Trek franchise with the 2009 reboot, the highly anticipated sequel to that movie - Star Trek Into Darkness - will hit this year, while the prolific filmmaker will then tackle Episode VII for LucasFilm and Disney soon after. Below he talks in detail about why exactly he loves the franchise, although we probably shouldn't expect to see any special editions of his upcoming Star Wars movies, as Abrams reveals that he decided to share the original theatrical cuts when introducing the movie to his children. "[Star Wars] did comedy, it did drama, it did romance, it did action-adventure, it did spectacle and scope and scale. When I saw that movie it was like another echelon of mind

BOX OFFICE: G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Continues To Dominate; Currently At $132M Globally

    Posted: 31 Mar 2013 10:19 AM PDT

We weren't big fans of G.I. Joe: Retaliation here (although we have a few more reviews to come; you can read mine here) but audiences have been flocking to it. Paramount reckon the sequel to G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra opened with a global gross of $132 million, which is +35% ahead of the worldwide opening of its predecessor. The movie currently holds the best international opening of 2013, surpassing Oz The Great And Powerful by 15% despite only opening in 75% of the world and has left other new openers The Croods, Tyler Perry's Temptations and The Host in the dust. Have you seen it yet? If not, do you intend to or have the reviews put you off? Sound off in the usual place.

    Killing Them Softly camera work

    Posted: 31 Mar 2013 07:36 AM PDT

I just finished watching and reviewing my blu ray copy of Killing Them Softly. I not going to post a link since its just out on DVD. If you want to read it, it's at Outtothemovies.com . Anyway to anyone who saw it, wasn't the camera work and cinematography amazing. The 2 scenes in the rain are just beautifully shot. I thought the movie was good, but man was that camera work top notch. Thoughts?
