According to the Wall Street Journal, the nature of the promotion will vary by country, but will include a TV commercial, special-edition Pepsi cans featuring Jackson's image, and chances to download remixes of his biggest hits. Well, he actually never saw it! Posted: 03 May 2012 09:56 AM PDT http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1001115-apartment/ I love the subtle humor, evolving story lines, and the interplay between the actors. For such a comical movie, the Mise en scène is fantastic in this movie, and it practically tells the story by itself. In the office the stark lines of desks are followed by the long linear lights. At the end party when they show the chaotic party background behind Lemmon, and the plain dull background behind Shirley Maclaine, it really speaks to their feelings in that moment. So many of the shots just set up getting under the characters skin. I highly recommend checking this one out. We should discuss more classics on /r/movies. [link] [2 comments] |

What's your 'most watchable' movie? Posted: 03 May 2012 10:29 AM PDT Movie buffs often discuss the 'best' or 'greatest' or 'most important' films of all time, and that's all fine and good. However, these movies aren't always the most enjoyable cinematic experience. For instance, I can enjoy and appreciate a movie like Gone With The Wind, but I don't always have four hours of patience to dedicate to watching it. So, in your opinions, what is the most watchable movie? [link] [3 comments] |

The Hunger Games Sequel Catching Fire Confirms Director Francis Lawrence Posted: 03 May 2012 10:30 AM PDT Lionsgate, a leading global entertainment company, announced today that Francis Lawrence has officially signed on to direct Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games, based on the second in a series of books by Suzanne Collins that has 36 million copies in circulation in the US alone.  The announcement was made by Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group Co-Chairmen Patrick Wachsberger and Robert Friedman.  Lawrence, who is represented by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment, has experience directing films that make him uniquely suited to handle the blend of character driven drama and high stakes action of Catching Fire; among them are I Am Legend, Constantine, and Water for Elephants. "Lionsgate, the cast, and filmmakers are all thrilled to have Francis Lawrence come on board as director of Catching Fire. Suzanne's brilliant book is the intense story of the birth of the rebellion and Katniss' emotionally charged journey as she takes on the mantle of the Mockingjay, and we all think Francis is the perfect director to bring the story to life," said Erik Feig, Lionsgate's President Of Production.  "From the very beginning of this brilliant trilogy's journey from page to screen, our first priority has been to stay true to the heart and soul of Suzanne Collins' powerful stories. From my first conversation with Francis, I knew he would make a great partner for both me and Suzanne. His passion for Catching Fire and inspired ideas for a faithful adaptation make him the perfect director for this movie.  I know this will be a wonderful collaboration and I cannot wait to get started," echoed producer Nina Jacobson. Said Francis, "It is truly an honor and a privilege to bring Catching Fire, the second chapter of Suzanne's beloved trilogy, to the big screen. I fell in love with the characters, the themes and the world she created and this chapter opens all of these elements up in such a thrilling, emotional and surprising way. I can't wait to dive right into it and bring this chapter to life along with the truly superb cast and filmmakers involved." Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth will reprise their roles as Katniss, Peeta and Gale, with Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, and Woody Harrelson also returning to their respective roles.  The film will be produced by Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Production is slated to begin this Fall, and the film will be released on November 22, 2013. The Hunger Games has broken many box office records since it opened on March 23, 2012.  It achieved the highest grossing opening weekend ever for any non-sequel film and the third biggest opening weekend in box office history.  It has already grossed $373 million at the North American box office, ranking in the top 20 films of all time, and it recently crossed the $600 million mark in worldwide box office. Catching Fire comes to theaters November 22nd, 2013 and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones. Ender's Game Battle School Set Photo Posted: 03 May 2012 09:25 AM PDT Producer Roberto Orci has been keeping fans of the Ender's Game adaptation in the loop, with a new blog post and set photo every week. This week, he gives us a look at the Battle School. Read on to see what he had to say about this Dragon Army, as featured both in the film and the book. "You think your school was clique-ish? In Battle School, you are part of an army, each represented by its own iconic symbol. Lately, Dragon Army has come to be known as a repository of misfits and failures. As a member of this unit, you're supposed to live, breathe (fire?) and fight as one cohesive and selfless unit. Success as one. Defeat as one. Unfortunately for Dragon Army, their reputation is the latter. Ender will be tasked with restoring this tarnished symbol. Will they follow him?" Ender's Game comes to theaters November 1st, 2013 and stars Asa Butterfield, Brendan Meyer, Harrison Ford, Abigail Breslin, Hailee Steinfeld, Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy Pinchak. The film is directed by Gavin Hood. |
