Mad Men: What's the Cost of Doing Business? Posted: 28 May 2012 10:57 AM PDT On Sunday's Mad Men, two of the show's strongest female characters decided what they were worth — in two very different ways. Let's start with the sadder (and perhaps less believable) of the two story lines. Joan (Christina Hendricks) has always been the "dynamite redhead" with whom many an adman and client would kill to spend a night. As such, Herb, the head of the dealers association, who perhaps senses Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce's desperation to win the Jaguar account, demands Joan's sexual services as a way to persuade him to vote SCDP's way.... Third Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer Posted: 28 May 2012 10:54 AM PDT 20th Century Fox has released the third trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which debuts in theaters nationwide June 22. Timur Bekmambetov directs this adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel, which follows our 16th President (Benjamin Walker), who heads out into the night with his trusty axe in search of vampires. Check out the video, plus read on for the announcement that cast and crew members are screening this genre tale for the sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter - Trailer 3Abraham Lincoln, in the guise of actor Benjamin Walker, who portrays the 16th president in the summer movie thriller Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and the film's cast and crew, will visit the sailors serving aboard the Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in June. As history's most beloved U.S. president and, according to the movie, its greatest hunter of the undead, Walker will be joined aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln by co-stars Anthony Mackie and Erin Wasson, as well as by the film's director Timur Bekmambetov, screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith and producer Jim Lemley. Walker will introduce a special screening of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for the thousands of sailors serving on the carrier, and the cast and filmmakers will distribute Lincolnesque top hats, as well as fangs - tools that will help the sailors decide, in the words of one of the film's promotional taglines, if they're patriots or vampires. In addition, the sailors will receive movie tie-in edition books, provided by Grand Central Publishing, and special graphic novels conceived by Bekmambetov. The cast and filmmakers will screen the film at two additional bases at undisclosed locations. "We're very excited that 20th Century Fox and Navy Entertainment wanted to provide Abe's crew the opportunity to preview the new Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter movie while we're out here on deployment," said Capt. John D. Alexander, Commanding Officer of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). "We're extremely fortunate that the studio wants to give us an early showing. It's something that we've never experienced before on this ship, and we're extremely grateful for their willingness to share this with our sailors." "This is really exciting for me to meet the Abe's crew and screen for them our film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," said Benjamin Walker. "I hope it brings them excitement, goodwill and a taste of home." Added the film's producer Jim Lemley: "We are pleased and proud to have this opportunity to visit with the men and women serving on the USS Abraham Lincoln. We hope they enjoy our film and know how much everyone in the United States appreciates their service." Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter puts down stakes in theaters everywhere June 22, 2012. The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold story that shaped our nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the bloody lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history's greatest hunter of the undead. Navy Entertainment, a division of Commander, Navy Installations Command, which operates the Navy's Morale, Welfare and Recreation program, brings celebrity shows to sailors deployed around the world for a taste of home. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter comes to theaters June 22nd, 2012 and stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Alan Tudyk, Rufus Sewell. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov. |

Ender's Game Blog Q&A with Roberto Orci Posted: 27 May 2012 10:43 PM PDT Producer Roberto Orci recently answered questions from fans via the Ender's Game production blog. Take a look at what he had to say about the militaristic environment of this sci-fi adaptation. We had a great visit with some online press who visited the set, and they got to talk to our actors. Without giving too much away, they told great stories of not only going to Space Camp, but also having to undergo a form of boot camp with a no nonsense instructor who taught them how to march properly in unison and much more. And when they screwed up they were ordered to do push ups! They got in shape trust me. It's painful for my self image to see so many young kids with six pack abs. Maybe I should go to boot camp next." He also answered a question about how the Orson Scott Card book was adapted to work with the ages of the actors. "Time has been compressed impressionistically. Though we don't specify how much time has passed, leaving it somewhat up to your imagination, it is clear that the time span is not as long as the books." Ender's Game comes to theaters November 1st, 2013 and stars Asa Butterfield, Brendan Meyer, Harrison Ford, Abigail Breslin, Hailee Steinfeld, Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy Pinchak. The film is directed by Gavin Hood. |
