Scissor Sisters' Ana Matronic Hails Obama's Support of Gay Marriage

News of President Obama's remarks from last week that he supports gay marriage brought forth praise from music stars -- among them Alicia Keys, John Legend, Jay-Z, Chuck D and Ricky Martin. Now adding to the group is Scissor Sisters co-singer Ana Matronic.

"It was a great thing," she tells Spinner, speaking from London. "Let's not forget he's in a campaign year, so he said, 'I support gay marriage, but I think states should decide.' So it was good on the one hand, but on another hand, it was like, 'OK, I can see he's campaigning and doesn't want to lose those swing votes.' But I completely understand. I'm really happy -- it's a step in the right direction."

Flea, Timbaland, Ladytron, Sheila E, Others React to Donna Summer's Death on Twitter

Keystone Hulton Archive

Donna Summer has died following a battle with cancer. The 63-year-old disco legend reportedly passed away this morning (May 17) in Florida, and her family released the news, saying they are "at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continue legacy."

Summer is known for her many hits, including "Hot Stuff," "Last Dance," "She Works Hard for the Money" and "Bad Girls," among many others, and won five Grammys over the course of her career. Summer had lung cancer, which she believed came from inhaling particles after the 9/11 attacks in New York. She was reportedly working on a new album up to the time of her death.

Fellow musicians have been reaching out via Twitter (#RIPdonnasummer) to express how much the disco queen's music meant to them.

Thor's "He's Adopted" Joke In THE AVENGERS Comes Under Fire

Posted: 17 May 2012 10:14 AM PDT

I'm sure we all remember Thor's response to Black Window informing him that his brother Loki had killed a whole bunch of people in The Avengers. The God Of Thunder replies - "he's adopted". Funny yes? Well, not everyone thought so. See, apparently this was seen as an attack on adopted people, because if Loki is evil, and Thor said he's adopted, that must mean he is implying..all adopted people are evil! Umm, no. Quite a few organizations and outlets have made it very clear that they have no idea how to put things in perspective, and were quick to express their outrage at such an insensitive attempt at humor! But one article in particular just took stupidity to a whole new level and prompted me to write up this response. In an piece entitled "The Avengers attack on adopted children is mean and unfunny", Andrea Poe of The Washington Times
