THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (TDKR) Is NOT 4 Hours Long, Not Even Close

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 11:10 AM PDT

Well, this is a case of humor not translating well when put into words to be read instead of heard. Yesterday, MTV reported that Christopher Nolan screened The Dark Knight Rises for WB Execs and that the rough cut of the film was 4 hours long. Well, Nolan did screen the film, and it was reportedly well received but it was not 4 hours. In fact, like us, MTV has no idea how long the final Batman film from Nolan will be. The author of MTV's article took to twitter to clear things up. Just to clear some confusion: I have no idea how long "The Dark Knight Rises" rough cut is. "4 hours" was a joke taken too literally.— Kevin P. Sullivan (@KPSull) March 21, 2012 See guys, even a site with the power and money of MTV can sometimes make a mistake or a exercise poor judgement.

CMW 2012: From Connoisseurs of Porn to Cowpuncher, Why 10 CMF Bands Picked Such Weird Names

"Canadian Music Week" doesn't have quite the mystique as "South by Southwest," but the 30-year-old Toronto-based music festival, happening March 21-25, has long been the launching pad for Canuck talent.

Arcade Fire played CMW before they even put out 'Funeral.' Crystal Castles have done it regularly. Same with Carly Rae Jepsen before she became a Bieber-approved world conqueror.

This year's schedule is filled with intrigue. There's Weakerthans lead singer John K. Samson showing off his solo project, the Dears are performing, three classic '90s Can-rock bands I Mother Earth, Treble Charger and The Inbreds are reuniting, and Joel Plaskett will be doing a show in the CN Tower.

These, however, are not the acts that get our maple syrup running. Much like at SXSW this year, once you get past the big names the risks and rewards get greater the further you go off the beaten path. There are acts with names like Pkew Pkew Pkew (Gunshots), Hey Is for Horses, Brave Little Toaster, Cowpuncher and Top Less Gay Love Tekno Party all playing. How can someone not be curious about names like this?

Spinner certainly is, so we tracked down 10 of the weirdest named acts playing Canadian Music Week 2012 and asked them what their deal was.

FRINGE's Joshua Jackson Would Have Another Go At Playing BATMAN

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 10:13 AM PDT

I was not aware of this, but apparently Fringe actor Joshua Jackson actually auditioned for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman before Christopher Nolan settled on Christian Bale. Now while speaking to Coming Soon about his future projects, Jackson reveals when prompted that if he was to receive another shot at The Bat, he would be more than happy. However he also admits that had he been cast the first time around, we would have ended up with a very different movie, and that Nolan and Bale made for a pretty intimidating duo to think about following up.. CS: You auditioned for the recent string of Batman movies. Now that Christian Bale is hanging up his cowl, are you gung-ho about trying out for the role again? Jackson: Ahh... I'm not going to turn down an audition for Batman if they ask me. As much as nobody in their right mind would turn

Syfy's Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome First Look Trailer

Visit TVWeb to watch the first trailer for Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome

Syfy has released the first trailer for the upcoming pilot Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, which was shot last month in Vancouver.

We still have no official word as to when this spin-off series will air, but this video seems to take a page from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailer. Visit TVWeb to check out this new trailer: clickHere

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20's and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet... the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.

Maria Shriver Not New Owner of Rosie's Spot on OWN

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 10:43 AM PDT

Oprah's good friend Maria Shriver will NOT be taking Rosie O'Donnell's place in a new show, according to an OWN spokesperson. The network rep told "Extra," "We love Maria, however, there are no plans with her at this time to do a show for OWN."

A recent report claimed Oprah was ready to give Shriver a reality show, and since Maria's children are almost out of the house, with the exception of Christopher, it would be feasible for Shriver to venture into a new project. The report also claimed Winfrey offered to have the show tape in L.A., so the former California First Lady could be close to her family.

Oprah is said to have recently held a top-level summit with OWN executives, and BFF Gayle King told "Extra," "Oprah's going in there and she's made some changes and she's trying to right the ship."

Beck, 'Looking for a Sign': New Song From Jason Segel's 'Jeff Who Lives at Home'

Beck has returned from a lengthy hiatus to deliver a new track, tied to the release of Jason Segel's new film 'Jeff Who Lives at Home.' 'Looking for a Sign' is a wonderfully laid-back country track, nodding to Neil Young's 'Harvest' era with its lush snare hits and finger-picked acoustic (h/t to TwentyFourBit for that comparison).

Beck's weirdness isn't lost in the mix either, as he delivers his chorus vocals through a chamber reverb with a megaton of heart in tow.

Fringe to Continue as Comic Book If Canceled by Fox

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 01:28 AM PDT

Fringe may become a comic series

Fringe executive producer Jeff Pinkner recently spoke at this year's WonderCon about making a comic book for the sci-fi series, if Fox doesn't bring the show back. The show would be following in the footsteps of Smallville, which became a comic book series after ending its 10-season run.

Here is how producer Jeff Pinkner described the comic, if it comes to fruition:

"It would be really elaborate and we would go to town on it and make sure that everything you needed to understand about the show would be in that and pay off that way. That's our back up plan."

The producer also said that if they don't get picked up for another season, they will probably publish one special edition comic.

Fringe returns Friday, March 23 at 9 PM ET on Fox with Episode 4.15: A Short Story about Love, the first original episode in a month.

Fringe episode 4.15, "A Short Story About Love" airs on Fox March 23rd, 2012. The episode stars Joshua Jackson, Lance Reddick, Anna Torv, Blair Brown, Jasika Nicole, Seth Gabel, John Noble and is directed by J.H. Wyman.
