BOX OFFICE: THE BOURNE LEGACY Takes #1 On Friday; THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Slips To #3

Posted: 11 Aug 2012 09:56 AM PDT

Deadline reports that despite being on course for the #1 spot at the North American box office this weekend, The Bourne Legacy now looks set to earn a slightly lower than expected total of $41 million. It opened yesterday to $14 million, as the after-effects of the tragic Aurora shooting are still being felt in theatres due to sluggish late-night traffic. Mixed reviews and a 'B' CinemaScore may have played a role in these slightly lower numbers. This is by no means a bad result for Universal, although there is a lot of pressure on The Bourne Legacy to perform well as the studio are hoping that the film will be the first instalment in a new Matt Damon-less Bourne franchise for them. Meanwhile, The Campaign over performed, pushing The Dark Knight Rises down to the #3 spot as Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie took $5.6 million on Friday for a

/r/whatsthatmovie needs mods, a direction, and a community. Seeking good folks to take it over

Posted: 11 Aug 2012 08:16 AM PDT

Hey all.

After seeing a number of "Hey, I can't remember what that movie was where the dude does the thing, then that thing happened" posts several months ago, I grabbed /r/whatsthatmovie (currently private). My goal was to open it up, similar to /r/tipofmytongue for these kinds of inquiries, and find some way of getting a community over there as a branch of the /r/movies community.

I have not had the time to open and usher this subreddit in, but I still think there's some purpose. Anybody want to give it a shot? I want to be involved with it, but I'd be willing to essentially turn it over to anybody who has the time and energy, and some kind of a plan, to make it a useful community.

So, there you go. Pitch it to me: what would you like to do with /r/whatsthatmovie, and how can we get it there?

The Professional 2- Why has this not happened?

Posted: 11 Aug 2012 09:01 AM PDT

The Professional is one of my favorite movies of all time, and many can say that. I believe it is one of Luc Bessón's masterpieces, so I find it odd that he never capitalized on a part 2. Around the time Natalie showed up in Star Wars, this became the idea for a dream movie for me. He could of had Natalie Portman reprise her role as an older, more dangerous and capable Mathilda, following León's path in her own way. She was such a deeply disturbed character, who fell in love with an older Hitman she wound up living with because her ENTIRE family was murdered. I mean, a followup practically writes itself. I'm not a big fan of sequels done long after the original, but if it was helmed by Luc, it could have worked.

This, and are there any dream movies of yours that you feel someone effed up by not making?
