EXCLUSIVE: Dreama Walker and Pat Healy Talk Compliance Posted: 19 Aug 2012 11:18 AM PDT One of the biggest buzz-worthy titles to come out of the Sundance Film Festival in January was director Craig Zobel's Compliance. This gripping drama is based on a true story, although most will be shocked by that aspect once the full tale unfolds. The plot centers on Becky (Dreama Walker), a young employee at a Chickwich fast food restaurant whose life gets upended by a single phone call. The store manager Sandra (Ann Dowd) receives a call from an "Officer Daniels" (Pat Healy), who accuses Becky of stealing money from a customer. Sandra keeps following the officer's orders to a T, despite how bizarre and unethical they are, in this tale that offers a haunting look at society's response to authority. I recently sat down with Dreama Walker and Pat Healy to discuss this critically-acclaimed drama, opening in New York City August 17th (clickHere for the list of cities it will expand to in the coming weeks). Take a look at our exclusive video interview to see what they had to say. Compliance Exclusive Interviews: Dreama Walker and Pat HealyCompliance was released August 17th, 2012 and stars Ann Dowd, Dreama Walker, Pat Healy, Bill Camp, Philip Ettinger, James McCaffrey, Matt Servitto, Ashlie Atkinson. The film is directed by Craig Zobel. |

Samuel L. Jackson Joins Oldboy Posted: 19 Aug 2012 11:15 AM PDT Samuel L. Jackson has joined the cast of director Spike Lee's upcoming remake Oldboy. The actor will play a small but critical role of a man who is tortured by Josh Brolin's character. The scene is considered one of the most disturbing elements of the original Oldboy from director Chan-wook Park, where Dal-su Oh takes out the teeth of his former captor, by using the end of a hammer. It is said that the remake will not feature the same kind of torture, although it will be just as gruesome. Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley also star. Spike Lee is directing from a screenplay by Mark Protosevich. Musician Bruce Hornsby has also signed on to compose the score. He also provided the score for Spike Lee's last movie, Red Hook Summer. Production will begin later this fall in Louisiana and New York. Oldboy comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Spike Lee. |

Where Have All the Good Editorials Gone and Where Are All the Gods? Posted: 18 Aug 2012 09:28 PM PDT Editorials should not be taken lightly. They're not just well-articulated opinion pieces, but statements that desire to ignite discussion and debate with a clear-cut, direct path. An editorial is one author saying to an audience, "This is my take in a logical, coherent medium, and I wish for you to take its contents into consideration, as this is not a fleeting thought, but something I find absolutely worthy of its own novel stature." Learn the difference between a comment and an editorial. Editorials have clear directions and are often composed of more than one thought or direction. They approach a subject in a light that is meant to resonate with a specific audience. Either that, or an editorial is a constructive analysis of a specific subject, listing the elements that compose said subject and reflecting upon the pros and cons of them. It's important to understand the difference between an "opinion" |

BOX OFFICE: Disappointing $28.7 Million Opening Weekend For THE EXPENDABLES 2 Posted: 19 Aug 2012 08:11 AM PDT Despite better reviews and bigger cast, The Expendables 2 grossed $28.7 million in its opening weekend according to official estimates (via BoxOffice.com). That is 17% less than the first film back in 2010 ($34.8 million). Many predicted that The Expendables 2 will most definitely make more than the first chapter in the first weekend. The film received an "A-" CinemaScore, which should result in a good word-of-mouth. It will be interesting to see the numbers for next weekend. Official domestic weekend estimate: $28.75 million for THE EXPENDABLES 2 from 3,316 locations. Location avg. = $8,670.— Boxoffice (@Boxoffice) August 19, 2012 Meanwhile, The Bourne Legacy continued its solid run with another $17.0 million, and the total is now $69.6 million. What are your most rewatchable movies? Posted: 19 Aug 2012 07:38 AM PDT I always seem to see lists about the best, greatest, funniest etc...But never see the most rewatchable. What are some movies you see on tv that you always seem to keep on even though you've seen them 100 times. Or a DVD that is constantly in your player? Here are some of mine, in no particular order, what are yours? The Shawshank Redemption - AMC seems to play this movie on an almost daily basis and I have no problem with that. Super Troopers - For some reason the jokes never get old. Inception - Anytime I see it on HBO it goes on. Might not be the most mentally stimulating film upon repeat viewings but its still fun. Goodfellas - No description neccesary. Forrest Gump - TNT loves this movie. And so do I. Taken - How can you resist seeing hundreds of throat chops in a single movie? Bonus points for being the type of movie that you can turn on at any point in the movie and still enjoy it. Those are a few of mine. Thought it could be a cool idea for a thread.
