/Movies, would you like to use your opinions and knowledge of movies to help reddit build a movie?

Posted: 26 Aug 2012 10:23 AM PDT

This past Friday, an idea for a movie sprung up from /askreddit and now it has become a collaborative effort to actually getting this to work. Below is a link for you reference as to how it started:

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/yr0ap/my_grandmother_insists_on_calling_newspapers/c5y2ebk

The movie would be a comedy/drama/romance - think Crazy Stupid Love, or Forgetting Sarah Marshall, or Garden State. The movie is called Wingmom( a play on the term wingman). A mother does everything she can to pickup the ladies for son after he has gone through a horrible breakup. The attempts are against his will be he decides to go along with it on and on a few dates after it seems his mom is actually really good at picking up dates. From this point on the film could go in a variety of places.

We are looking for redditors to make the decisions on many things, like names, dialogue, scenes, and much more.

/Movies, what are your thoughts on this and what do you think it would take to make this work?

If you would like to help or be part of this please visit /wingmom. We grew to 100 subscribers in about 3 hours on Friday, and we are pushing to grow this number as we are in desperate need for more opinions and help. Thanks!

RESULTS: One Year Later...What Do You Think About "The New 52" Now?

Posted: 26 Aug 2012 09:48 AM PDT

Starting with Justice League #1, DC Comics rebooted their convoluted (and arguably confusing) continuity this time last year with 52 new #1 issues. Some titles featured characters who hadn't been featured prominently in their own books for quite some time (Animal Man, Swamp-Thing), others wiped untold amounts of stories from history (Supergirl), and a few even offered an entirely new perceptive on iconic heroes (Aquaman). A few titles actually remained pretty much the same (Green Lantern) or just had impressive creative team shake-ups (Batman). The question we asked you was whether or not you guys consider it to have been a success. Well, below are the results in full, and as you can see, it appears that the majority of you have been pleased with the direction of "The New 52" so far. Should Marvel follow in their footsteps?

I'm looking to watch some artsy, stylish detective films (like Chinatown), what can Reddit recommend?

The last 10-12 years (since 2000) hasn't really brought us much in terms of film music, but Hedwigs Theme from Harry Potter is still magical. What other recent film music do you think could become classic years down the road?

Posted: 26 Aug 2012 08:25 AM PDT

According to his official website, actor/writer/director Andy Nyman has been cast in Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass sequel as The Tumor (Tumour?), one of the members of the super-villain team, The Toxic Mega-C#nts. Nyman may not be very familiar Stateside, but he has starred in movies such as Dead Babies, Severance, and the brilliant E4 horror satire Dead Set. Jeff Wadlow will direct Kick-Ass 2, which will begin shooting this September in Toronto and London. Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicholas Cage are all set to return. We still don't know who will play "Mother Russia", but expect a bit of news on that soon enough.

Randy Travis: Singer's Overturned Truck Found in Texas

Posted: 26 Aug 2012 08:58 AM PDT

Singer Randy Travis' truck was found overturned and abandoned in a Frisco, TX field on Saturday.

Cops found the vehicle banged up and on its side. Travis' lawyer, however,  told WFAA that the country star was not responsible for abandoning the truck and has not been in the pickup for months.

The troubled star was arrested on assault charges earlier this week outside a church in Plano, TX and was cited for DWI on August 7.

Do you movie buffs re-watch Disney animated classics?

Posted: 26 Aug 2012 08:18 AM PDT

I'm a guy that's very secure with his masculinity and a fan of the eclectic. I haven't re-watched any Disney classics since the time they came out, or when I was a child. But I remember the magic in them very vividly.

Pinocchio always comes to mind, think it was my favorite, following Peter Pan. Truly I think Disney's dead now, but for those of you that do re-watch those classics time to time, which ones are your favorites?
