| BOX OFFICE: THE BOURNE LEGACY Finishes Weekend With A Disappointing $38.1 Million Posted: 13 Aug 2012 11:27 AM PDT Sunday estimates (which are rarely off even by a few hundred thousand dollars) had The Bourne Legacy down as earning 40.3 million during its opening weekend in North America. However, the final day of the London Olympics - and subsequent closing ceremony - seemingly took a massive chunk out of that haul as final box office figures reveal that it made only £38.1 million. That's a $2.2 million difference. It wasn't the only film to feel such an effect, although the impact on The Bourne Legacy was more significant than the others. With a budget of around $125 million, Universal are hoping that the film will be the beginning of a new franchise for them (with no superhero tentpoles, the studio are desperate to create their own). This is by no means a bad start, but the reboot starring Jeremy Renner will need to perform well overseas to guarantee a follow-up. The |

| Why Cloud Atlas(2012) gives me chill bumps Posted: 13 Aug 2012 10:11 AM PDT Cloud Atlas extended trailer #1: http://youtu.be/hWnAqFyaQ5s It's hard for me to explain how watching this trailer has created this overwhelming excitement inside me. My first reaction to the 5:42 long trailer was childlike wide eyed wonder and amazement. So much so, I had tears by the end and my skin prickled with bumps as if I had discovered a whole cosmos(well maybe not). What I had finally settled on as my reason for this reaction is how familiar I felt to the wonder of my own dreams. I have dreams that place me in equally fantastical worlds, in relationships with deep emotional bonds, and multileveled emotions. They have so much complexity and authenticity I am lost in this world making the moment I wake up a very abrupt and lingering separation for the people and places I've been in. Regardless of the actors who are featured in this film, it is as if my dreams have leapt on screen for an audience, finally! I wanted this to happen so badly. This has been submitted to /r/movies in hopes this is where I may speak about this and find those with a common excitement for this film even though our reasons may differ. [link] [2 comments] |
