COMICS: Marvel Turned Down A SPIDER-MAN Comic From Joss Whedon And Bryan Hitch Posted: 15 Dec 2012 10:08 AM PST Ready to have you day ruined? In a lengthy chat with Comic Book Resources, The Ultimates co-creator has talked more about his decision to leave Marvel, dropping some upsetting revelations in the process. Not only was an Ultimate Captain America series he was working on scrapped (artwork from which can be found at the bottom of the page), but then Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada decided not to give him and Joss Whedon (yes, the same Joss Whedon responsible for Astonishing X-Men and a little movie you may have heard of called The Avengers) the go ahead on a Spider-Man run. Reading between the lines, it sounds as if Hitch joins a VERY long list of creators who no longer have any interest in working for the publisher due to the way they have been treated. ComicBookMovie User Awards 2012 - The Voting Phase Posted: 15 Dec 2012 08:59 AM PST I'm not going to lie, it was extremely tough bringing all of your great choices and fitting them into just 5 nominations, so... I bent the rules a little by including more than five nominations in some categories (especially in the "Regular Chat Member" category). Anyway, here is Phase 2 of the ComicBookMovie.com User Awards 2012 - The Voting Stage. This where you get to choose your own winner in each of the seventeen categories. So, without further ado, here are the final nominations, and get to voting. Voting will end on Christmas Day, December 25th, and the Awards Ceremony will be posted on New Years Eve. I would also like to acknowledge some categories I didn't involve in this year's Awards. These include "FAVORITE USER NAMED YOSSARIAN", "FAVORITE CRAZY INSANE SLASH-FAN CHICK", "MOST RIDICULOUSLY ASININE [frick]TARD EVER TO CLICK "POST COMMENT" ON CBM.COM" (suggested by the always loving TheGambitchFreak, in which

Comedy movie with a suicide bomber? Posted: 15 Dec 2012 07:17 AM PST Can somebody help me find out what this movie is? It is a comedy, I believe (not 30 seconds or less), and at one point a guy with a bomb strapped to himself is running and falls, and explodes. This all happens while two other people watch him. Help? EXCLUSIVE: Making Of Vermin Man & Other Demonic Creatures From CONSTANTINE Posted: 15 Dec 2012 09:01 AM PST Stan Winston Studio has provided us with some fantastic behind-the-scenes phots and concept art from 2005 Warner Brothers, Constantine, based on the DC Comics/Vertigo series, Hellblazer. The information below is an excerpt from The Winston Effect: The Art & History of Stan Winston Studio book. Which by the way would make a lovely gift during this holiday season. Winston's studio was called upon to create a variety of demonic characters for Constantine (2005), a Francis Lawrence film - based on the horror comic, Hellblazer - about an exorcist named John Constantine (Keanu Reeves). Constantine's sojourns in Hell reveal a scorched landscpae populated with scavenger demons and winged seplavites. At Lawrence's urging, the studio steered clear of typical medieval-era depictions of demons, and instead looked to the art world and real-life autopsy photographs for inspiration. Winston's artists ultimately produced a scavenger demon that looked like a desiccated corpse with a hollowed cranium. Aaron Sims
IRON MAN 3 Is A “Dark Comedy” Says James Badge Dale Posted: 15 Dec 2012 08:48 AM PST Making the cover of this month's Glow Magazine issue, James Badge Dale discussed the number of big movies he has forthcoming, from The Lone Ranger to Iron Man 3. And when asked about playing one of the villains in the latter 2013 Marvel sequel, via Just Jared, the actor explained: "I had a great time. I went from riding a horse in the desert for The Lone Ranger, tossed my dogs in a car and went to Iron Man 3 with guys in robot suits. IM3 is really a dark comedy with a little bit of farce. The trick is to be able to have the audience relate to you. Director Shane Black gave me a long leash. We had a great time. Robert Downey Jr. loves the process of acting and loves to be creative with a director and his fellow actors." About his other future projects, "I'm close to a

Posted: 15 Dec 2012 07:39 AM PST I'm not some angry fanboy, but it does bother me to see The Hobbit have a lower average rating than films like Austin Powers 4 or Men In Black 3. It seems like so many reviewers are just stubborn little brats nitpicking about the quality of special effects, and now frame rates which the movies are projected in. Growing up in the 80s it seemed like reviewers were more in tune with the story, as opposed the the crude effects used in many of those older films. I know there are many writers who get paid to skew their reviews, but now it's almost as if they are writing overtly negative material solely for the purpose of stirring up trouble to gain notoriety.
