Tyler is scheduled to perform on "Idol" along with fellow judge Jennifer Lopez. When asked how he feels about his upcoming performance, Steven quipped, "I am just hearing about this now. I want to ring Nigel's neck!"

Also present at the event were season 10 "American Idol" finalists, including Casey Abrams, who was hospitalized last week after needing a blood transfusion. Abrams suffers from ulcerative colitis and skipped the show in order to receive his transfusion. "We're so happy to see him here," Jackson told Terri.

When Randy mentioned old pal Simon Cowell told Piers Morgan that "Idol" is "better than last season," Seymour informed him that Cowell also said, "Not only better, but much better!" Jackson happily retorted, "Wow, Simon's finally telling the truth! I like it!"

Beatles' 'Yellow Submarine' Movie Remake Torpedoed

GAB Archive, Redferns

Plans to remake the Beatles' 1968 film 'Yellow Submarine' in 3D have run aground. The project, produced by Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis, has been scrapped by Disney after the failure of the producer's most recent offering for the studio, 'Mars Need Moms.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, budget issues plagued the project's development from the start while the remaining Beatles seemed less than enthused having cancelled and never rescheduled a key meeting meant to have taken place in December.

However sources in Hollywood believe it's been the poor performance of Zemeckis' current animated film 'Mars Need Moms' which sealed the project's fate. With a budget of $150m (£93.5m) and what has been described as a disastrous box-office opening weekend of just $6.9m (£4.3m), the belief is Disney have lost faith in the producer.

Ben Stiller reveals Zoolander 2 is already in production

While we have known for some time that Zoolander 2 is in the works, apparently the sequel has already entered into production. Here's what actor Ben Stiller had to say about the new comedy.

"We're filming the Zoolander 2 sequel at the moment. Derek's going to be back bigger and better than before - no catwalk is safe!"

Ben Stiller also confirmed that Owen Wilson will reprise his role of Hansel from the original 2001 comedy Zoolander, and talked a bit more about the plot of Zoolander 2.

"It's ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don't want to give away too much, but it's basically Derek and Hansel ten years later."

We reported back in November that Zoolander 2 would likely shoot in 2011, although this is the first we're hearing that production has actually started. It isn't clear where the sequel is currently filming. Justin Theroux is directing from a script he co-wrote with Ben Stiller.

It isn't known what the release plans are for Zoolander 2 at this time.

Zoolander 2 is in development and stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell. The film is directed by Justin Theroux.

Love Etc. Acquired by Paladin

Love Etc. documentary will be distributed by Paladin

Love Etc., Jill Andresevic's acclaimed multi-character documentary depicting the many stages of modern metropolitan romance, will be distributed by Paladin, it was announced by company president and CEO, Mark Urman. The film, which is the first production from Jonathan Tisch's Walnut Hill Media, had its world premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival last October, where it won the Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary. Set entirely in New York, a city that it explores and embraces in glorious detail, the film will debut in exclusive Manhattan engagements in June before expanding nationally throughout the summer.

Filmed over the course of a year, Love Etc. is actually five different relationship stories-all of them real-combined in a single film. With characters ranging in age from 18 to 89, the youthful end of the spectrum is represented by high school sweethearts Gabriel and Danielle, whose first-love romance is tested as graduation nears. On the other end of the spectrum are Albert and Marion, octogenarian lovebirds whose chance meeting turned into a 50 year marriage, and who remain as enamored of one another today as they were when they first married. In between, are two men: Ethan, who is straight and the divorced father of two teenagers, and Scott, who is gay and single, and the soon-to-be father of twins. Despite their complicated lives, both are on a quest to find new partners and believe that love is only one blind date away. The final couple, Chitra and Mahendra, are engaged when we meet them- their big, traditional Indian wedding is the centerpiece of the film-but, once the honeymoon is over, the realities of marriage change and challenge their life together. A love letter to love itself, Andresevic's film celebrates the diversity of these couples, as well as the vast and varied city they inhabit.

About the film Urman says, "Love Etc. is as poignant, poetic, and polished as the best fiction, but has the added bonus of being completely real. I've never seen another documentary like it and, in fact, I think we need a new word to describe this utterly original--and enjoyable-- foray into non-fiction filmmaking."

Director Andresevic added, "While most documentaries are issue-based films, we decided to examine the universal subject of love through five storylines - all of which were documented over the course of a year as the subjects lives naturally unfolded. I believe we created a film that is both authentic and humorous, and feels like a real life romantic comedy, provoking thought, while still entertaining the audience." About the deal, Jeffrey Stewart, who produced along with Chiemi Karasawa and Andresevic, says, "We're so pleased to be in the very capable hands of Mark Urman, the distributor of such acclaimed films as Spellbound, Half Nelson, and Born into Brothels. Mark instantly understood and appreciated the fresh approach of the film and its broad appeal. We have complete confidence in Paladin and look forward to working together."

Love Etc. was produced by Walnut Hill Media, a company formed in 2008 by Stewart and Tisch, who served as executive producer on the film, and whose own visit to the City Hall Marriage Bureau to obtain a marriage license in 2007 -- an occasion defined by a broad range of couples all united by their common belief in love -- provided the initial inspiration for their maiden production. Since then, Walnut Hill has completed another documentary, New York Says Thank You, which is expected to be released later this year.

In current release for Paladin is Tom Shadyac's I Am, which was successfully launched in Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco and which opens in Los Angeles on March 11th and New York on March 18th. The company recently announced that it will release the Broadway-themed comedy, Meeting Spencer, starring Jeffrey Tambor, on April 8th as well as Steven Peros' Hollywood-set fable Footprints, which is set for an April 15th opening.

Love Etc. comes to theaters in 2011.

Gilbert Gottfried Fired over Jokes about Japan Tragedy

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 10:33 AM PDT

gilbert-gottfried
Comedian Gilbert Gottfried will no longer be the voice of the duck in the Aflac commercials. The disability insurer Aflac Inc dismissed the comedian after he tweeted a series of jokes about the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan, one of Aflac's key markets, Reuters reports. Aflac said his comments "were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac." The company announced it would be looking for a new voice, sending out a nationwide casting call. They were already using a different voice in the Japanese market, where it is the No. 1 foreign insurer. Gottfried had been the voice of the duck in the insurer's TV ad campaign since 2000.

Rose Byrne On Moira MacTaggert's CIA Connections In X-Men: First Class

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 09:29 AM PDT

One element(among many!) of Mathew Vaughn's X prequel that has caused a bit of fan backlash is this movie's incarnation of Moira MacTaggert. A Dr working for mutant rights in the comics, here she will be a CIA liaison to Xavier and Magneto's young team.. Movie Trailers - Movies Blog "She works for the CIA in this prequel and gets involved in the whole mutant community as it were, "I'm on [the mutants'] side, so that's the main thing. "She kind of joins forces with [Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr] to use mutants for good rather than evil." "She really believes in them being able to coexist with humans," Does Byrne display a hint of a Scottish accent when she says "Mutant community"? Maybe it's my imagination. In the comics, MacTaggert is Scottish and an ex lover of Charles Xavier and Sean Cassidy(Banshee). In the movie Banshee is said to be her assistant. But the

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop Lands Unique Distribution Deal

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 09:09 AM PDT

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop documentary acquired by Abramorama and AT&T UVerse

Rodman Flender's comic documentary Conan O'Brien Can't Stop, which had its world premiere on Sunday afternoon at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, will be released across the U.S. in the coming months in a unique mutli-platform acquisition and distribution deal. In the deal, AT&T will come onboard as a P&A and multi-platform distribution and marketing partner, and will sneak the film to their AT&T U-verse TV subscribers on the eve of the film's theatrical release. Abramorama has come onboard to handle theatrical distribution of the film. Magnolia Home Entertainment has acquired the remaining Video-on-Demand (VOD) and home entertainment rights.

In 2010, after a much-publicized departure from hosting NBC's Tonight Show - and the severing of a 22-year relationship with the network - Conan O'Brien hit the road with a 32-city music-and-comedy show to exercise his performing chops and exorcise a few demons. The "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour" was O'Brien's answer to a contractual stipulation that banned his appearance on television, radio and the Internet for six months following his last show. Flender's resulting documentary, Conan O'Brien Can't Stop, is an intimate portrait of an artist trained in improvisation, captured at the most improvisational time of his career. It offers a window into the private writers room and rehearsal halls as O'Brien's "half-assed show" (his words) is almost instantly assembled and mounted to an adoring fan base. At times angry, mostly hilarious, O'Brien works out his feelings about the very-public separation with comedy and rockabilly music, engaging in bits with on-stage guests such as Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and Jim Carrey, duetting with Jack White and sweating out manic Elvis Presley covers with his band and back-up singers. We see a comic who does not stop-performing, singing, pushing his staff and himself.

"Last year, with no traditional advertising in place and just one Tweet, Conan nearly sold out his entire 42 show tour in a matter of hours, with about 130,000 people in attendance throughout the national tour. This was a remarkable sign of the power of social media, and a clear message that it is not just business as usual," said the film's two producers Gavin Polone and Rachel Griffin. "For a film like ours, and with Conan at its center, it was imperative that we not follow typical business models in the release of this film. This distribution deal has been structured in a way that satisfies our audience in every possible manner, and allows people to see the film on whichever platform they most prefer-be it on a big screen in a dark theater which lots of other fans or the small screen of their choice. As part of this deal, AT&T will provide exclusive content related to the film to their customers - both on U-verse TV and also on AT&T mobile devices."

Abramorama, headed by Richard Abramowitz (who steered theatrical campaigns for films that include Anvil! the Story of Anvil and the Oscar-nominated Exit Through the Gift Shop), will shepherd the film theatrically nationwide with special theatrical "event" screenings. In a last minute piece of the deal, Magnolia Home Entertainment has come on board and will begin to show the film on VOD following the exclusive window on U-verse TV, and then Magnolia will release the film onto DVD and other digital platforms.

"Conan has a very large and passionate fan base and we're excited to give them an exclusive, first-look at this documentary on the AT&T U-verse platform of their choice," said Dan York, president of content, AT&T. "This deal is another example of how we continue to deliver unique content to our customers across all screens and platforms."

The deal was negotiated by Liesl Copland at WME Global on behalf of the filmmakers, with Brent Imai and Richard Wellerstein at AT&T, Richard Abramowitz for Abramorama, and Tom Quinn at Magnolia Home Entertainment
