Arnold Schwazenegger starring in new international TV series

Arnold Schwarzenegger will be appearing in a new TV series, with the first details to be unveiled at a MIPTV press conference in Cannes on April 4. The only details given about the show thus far is that it will be "an international TV series."

It seems this may in fact be his first turn at acting since leaving the California governor's office earlier this year. We exclusively reported last week that Arnold Schwarzenegger's first movie could be True Lies 2. James Cameron and White Collar creator Jeff Eastin wrote the True Lies 2 script. James Cameron likely won't direct True Lies 2, although he will be on board as a producer.

The MIPTV sales market will run from April 4 through April 8 in Cannes, France.

In the run up to the publication of his first novel 'I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive' -- also the name of his new album -- Steve Earle has been speaking about his reading habits and in particular his love of the Harry Potter books.

In an interview with the Telegraph, the 56-year-old discussed his preferred reading matter, "I mainly read non-fiction, and that's probably because I have a huge amount of insecurity about my lack of education and the things I don't know. But I loved the 'Harry Potter' books."

He continued, "When the Potter 'Phoenix' book was released in 2003 I was living with a woman and her 10-year daughter and we went out at midnight to get a new copy. There were kids lined up to buy a f------ book. I thought that was so cool. I know a lot of kids gave up on the Potter books but I read every one."

Now fans can see and hear the extended trilogy at home the way it was meant to be seen, on Blu-ray Hi-Def. Based on the length of each extended edition feature film and in order to present each film in the highest possible picture quality, each film is presented on 2 Blu-ray Discs.

The Lord of the Rings franchise's popularity continues unabated, with pre-sales response soaring. The official Facebook page (Facebook.com/LordOfTheRingsTrilogy) has reached more than 4 million friends and boasts an average 1M comments per post. The set boasts more than 26 hours of additional content, highlighted by the rare behind-the-scenes documentaries created by Costa Botes, the filmmaker given unprecedented access to the set of each production by Peter Jackson. Costa Botes was able to capture raw and riveting behind-the-scenes film footage. His unique approach to storytelling - allowing the footage to speak for itself - results in an intimate and candid backstage pass to the challenges, preparations and camaraderie that went into shooting one of the greatest cinematic adventures of all time. The feature-length documentaries, with more than four and a half hours of footage, focus on a number of complexities and circumstances that tested the filmmakers, cast and crew during the shoot, as well as a look at some of the comical antics and personal moments on the set. About the Trilogy and the Films

The Lord of the Rings tells the story of Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), a hobbit who battles against the Dark Lord Sauron to save his world, Middle-earth, from the grip of evil. In the films, Frodo and his fellowship of friends and allies embark on a desperate journey to rid Middle-earth of the source of Sauron's greatest strength, The One Ring -- a ring that has the power to enslave the inhabitants of Middle-earth. The trilogy tells tales of extraordinary adventures across the treacherous landscape of Middle-earth and reveals how the power of friendship, love and courage can hold the forces of darkness at bay. Beside Wood, the films star Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, John Rhys-Davies, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, featuring Sean Bean and Ian Holm, with Andy Serkis as Gollum. The films also star Marton Csokas, Craig Parker and Lawrence Makoare.

The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

In this first part of the Trilogy, the young hobbit Frodo Baggins inherits a ring; but this ring is no mere trinket. It is the One Ring, an instrument of absolute power that could allow Sauron, the dark Lord of Mordor, to rule Middle-earth and enslave its peoples. Frodo, together with a Fellowship that includes his loyal hobbit friends, humans, a wizard, a dwarf and an elf, must take the One Ring across Middle-earth to Mount Doom, where it first was forged, and destroy it forever. Such a journey means venturing deep into territory manned by Sauron, where he is amassing his army of Orcs. And it is not only external evils that the Fellowship must combat, but also internal dissension and the corrupting influence of the One Ring itself. The course of future history is entwined with the fate of the Fellowship. The film won four Oscars for Best Visual Effects, Cinematography, Makeup and Original Score.

SXSW 2011: The Heady Highlights of Music's Biggest Bash

The music industry has sung a sad song for the past decade or so, but every March the tune changes as musicians, labels, journalists and fans descend upon Austin for the South by Southwest music festival. This year's SXSW, however, was even more celebratory than usual -- in fact, it felt downright triumphant.

After the tight squeeze of Great Recession downsizing, the fest's 25th anniversary surged back in size, with performances spilling out all over the city, from every bar, parking lot, back alley and rooftop. It was hard to walk a block downtown without bumping into a New Orleans brass band, sidewalk rap battle, indie rock icon or a Snoop Dogg parking lot tribute to Nate Dogg, who passed away on the festival's first night.

SXSW has always positioned itself as a place to discover new music -- and in 2011 it maintained its rep as a place where hype becomes buzz, be it anthemic Brit rockers the Vaccines, Toronto electro-goth trio Austra and glam-popper Diamond Rings, southern-fried piano rockers J-Roddy Walston and the Business, or hotly tipped indie-rappers Odd Future.

But it's now more about rediscovering a love of music, period.

Paul

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 09:56 AM PDT

We went and saw it, my husband and I are in our early 30s, and we LOVED it. If you liked Hot Fuzz, you'll love Paul. I was a little worried after seeing the previews that it wasn't going to be very good, but there were parts where everyone in the audience was laughing great big belly laughs. If you're a scifi movie fan, you'll love all the "inside" jokes and enjoy seeing the many homages that are paid to classic scifi movies. One part that involved a large warehouse was especially funny.

This isn't a "film." Don't go if you want to watch something realistic or challenging to your brain, but it is a damn good comedy "spoof" in a time where the genre is dying. I think this is probably due to it having an actual plot that they fit the jokes around, as opposed to just making joke after joke about other movies and not developing a plot line of its own.

"I wrote 15 songs in five days, and I based them off of some of my favorite songs like 'I Am the Walrus' or 'Rocky Raccoon,'" she tells Spinner. "I thought it was something that adults would like, but also would really appeal to children because it's very story-telling driven, and very creative and whimsical."

Travis Barker Brands Hip-Hop Critics 'Nazis'

C Flanigan, FilmMagic

Drummer Travis Barker, who achieved his fame with pop-punk pioneers Blink-182, has hit back at the band's fans expressing disappointment at his recent association with hip-hop.

With collaboration credits stacking up after work with the likes of Eminem and RZA, Barker has decided he has more in common with rappers than "fools that are in rock music," and branded his critics "Nazi b------s."

Speaking to Complex (via NME), Barker reflected on his welcome into the hip-hop scene.

"It was always natural for me. And I'm a huge fan. Whenever I get an offer or hear a guy like [Lil] Wayne shout me out on a mixtape, it's like, 'What the f--k!' I'm always flattered."
