Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (the Harry Potter series, Iris) co-stars as Thatcher's husband, Denis. The film marks the second collaboration between Lloyd and Streep, following the acclaimed hit musical Mamma Mia!. The Iron Lady is written by award-winning writer Abi Morgan (Brick Lane, White Girl) and produced by Damian Jones (The History Boys, Millions). The announcement was jointly made by TWC Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein and François Ivernel, EVP, Pathé. The US Theatrical release for The Iron Lady is planned for 2011. Said Weinstein, "Having worked with both Meryl Streep and Jim Broadbent, I know that they are without peer as film actors. Added Peter Lawson TWC Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, "I was very impressed by the screenplay and when I saw the assembled footage, I knew immediately that The Iron Lady belonged at TWC." Sam Roberts Band New Album 'Collider' Inspired by Children's Toys Posted: 13 May 2011 02:00 PM PDT Filed under: News, Exclusive, New Releases Universal Music Canada But the songs all took shape first in Roberts' basement, a menagerie of children's toys and recording gear overseen by Winnie the Pooh. After touring behind your last album, 'Love at the End of the World,' did you plow headlong into writing or were you too burnt out to think? I was really looking forward to writing after the next record. I don't know why. Sometimes I am burnt out, I have to admit, and it takes me months and months before I even want to consider sitting down to work on a song. But after 'Love at the End of the World,' I was really amped up to get in there and start writing. What I was going to be writing, I had no idea. |

Shania Twain on Her Country-Song Life: 'It's Beautifully Twisted' Posted: 13 May 2011 10:48 AM PDT Country superstar Shania Twain has written a lot of country songs about relationships, but none compare to her own life story. The lovely singer stopped by The Grove to chat with "Extra's" Mario Lopez about how her life has turned out. "It's very beautifully twisted," referring to her recent marriage to Fred Thiebaud, ex-husband of her best friend, the same best friend who had an affair with Twain's first husband, Robert John "Mutt" Lange. "I'm very grateful it's turned out the way it did." Twain is promoting her new memoir, "From This Moment On," and says she was ready to talk about her personal life. "I've always been, like you said, guarded about it, so I just needed to go the other way and find a healthy balance of sharing." Can she ever forgive her ex-husband and former best friend? "I think understanding is a better word." The singer is also excited about her new OWN show, "Why Not?" -- explaining how it came about. "I stopped touring because I was losing my voice, and I needed a break, so the series unravels all about me discovering what's wrong and what I have to do about it." As for her hidden talents, Shania says she loves "to cook. Fred thinks I'm extremely talented. I do love to cook. Don't get me started." Be sure to check out "Why Not?" on Sunday nights on OWN, and pick up a copy of Twain's memoir "From This Moment On," in bookstores now. |
