"Is it just me or is it ironic that I diss the f--- out of Pitchfork and they still ask me to come here and perform?" posed Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All leader Tyler, the Creator toward the end of his collective's more or less headlining set on the Pitchfork-curated stage on May 28, the last night of Barcelona's Primavera Sound festival.

The comments came shortly after the collective -- which, at times, can swell up to 10 members -- finished a shambolic version of Tyler, the Creator's solo single 'Bastard' (11 million YouTube hits and counting!) and summed up the mercurial happenstance of one of the most controversial hip-hop acts on the planet playing one of the most twee indie festivals in the world.

Thoughtless Music Ring in Their 50th Release at Montreal's Mutek Festival

With the recent 50th release from Thoughtless Music, music fans are taking note of Noah Pred as both a top-notch DJ/producer and the founder of the Toronto-based techno label. At this year's Mutek festival, which kicks off June 1, five producers on Pred's Thoughtless roster are poised to perform at the renowned five-day affair in Montreal.

In honour of Thoughtless' milestone, Pred has released a mix compilation called 'Era One,' which features various tracks from the label layered together using Ableton. "I wanted to challenge myself to tell a story with 50 tracks on the label," he tells Spinner.

With individual tracks only playing on their own for 45 seconds or less, Pred explains his rationale: "Who wants to hear a normal mix CD with 10 tracks? Hasn't that been done to death? I wanted to push myself."
