Why didn't anyone notice Prometheus is a remake of Alien Vs Predator?

Posted: 02 Jul 2012 09:20 AM PDT

Guess what movie this describes:

A dying billionaire tycoon Weyland discovers a very remote ancient pyramid that seems to have characteristics from several ancient cultures never known to interact. Weyland assembles and briefs a team of scientists and specialists on their mission to discover the secrets first. Once in the pyramid, they soon discover that this place was used for intentional alien activity and things went horribly wrong. Soon, they realize that they were lured here to reinitiate the activity. Crazy alien shit ensues. The only surviving human is a girl.

That is Alien Vs Predator. Lucky for Ridley Scott that no one saw it.

Showrunner Glen Mazzara had this to say about the new Prison setting.

"I'm incredibly proud of the prison. I think our crew has done a great job. It's a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven't seen on any other show as far as construction. What's important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It's a haunted house, it's scary, it's frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It's not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be."

The Walking Dead episode 3.1, "Season 3 Premiere" airs on AMC in 2012.

Beachwood Sparks' new album, The Tarnished Gold, is the country-rock band's first LP in a decade, during which the group dispersed to grad school, other musical projects and life in general.

Yet even though the band broke up, Beachwood Sparks was never really finished -- just worn out from the road after releasing two LPs and an EP in the early '00s.

"We always still stayed close and talked to each other, because we started the band out of just being really good friends," singer and guitarist Chris Gunst tells Spinner. "When we would talk together on the phone, we'd always be like, it would be really fun to play again, but we didn't have the impetus to do it."

Anderson Cooper: 'The Fact Is, I'm Gay, Always Have Been'

Posted: 02 Jul 2012 10:30 AM PDT

Talk show host Anderson Cooper recently sent an email to The Daily Beast's Andrew Sullivan, in which Cooper states, "I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn't be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."

The thoughtful statement from the journalist comes at a time when more and more celebrities are revealing their sexual orientation in a matter-of-fact way, such as "The Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons and "Magic Mike" actor Matt Bomer.

Josh Wilding Reviews: HELL

Posted: 02 Jul 2012 10:30 AM PDT

Hell's executive producer Roland Emmerich may be behind such big budget post apocalyptic blockbusters as 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow, but this film tells a far more personal story and doesn't require millions of dollars of visual effects to do so. Instead, director and writer Tim Fehlbaum (he shares a screenplay credit with Oliver Kahl and Thomas Wöb) grounds the story firmly in reality, focusing only on two sisters, the dubious man they travel with and another male straggler they pick up along the way. The specifics of how and why the temperature of the world has risen and left it a barren wasteland are irrelevant and there's no tedious subplot here about scientists trying to figure out how to miraculously stop the disaster (although a newspaper which mentions solar flares may tell us all we really need to know). As the group head towards the mountains in search of

COMICS: Jean Grey Set To Finally Return To The Marvel Universe?

Posted: 02 Jul 2012 09:23 AM PDT

Well, it would appear as if the return of Jean Grey will be just one of the many changes set to occur in the Marvel Universe at the conclusion of Avengers Vs. X-Men. It has already been rumoured that the publisher will be doing some sort of relaunch (possibly called "Marvel Now") which won't effect continuity, but will take many titles back to #1 with new costumes and creative teams for many of their characters. However, the return of Jean Grey might be the most surprising change yet! Check out the image below (which also appears to feature the Hulk - could this have something to do with the rumoured Uncanny Avengers comic book?) and the text which accompanied it over at Entertainment Weekly. To answer your questions: Yes, this is Jean Grey — as in, the Jean Grey who's been absent from Marvel comics ever since dying for a second time
