| BOX OFFICE: MEN IN BLACK 3 Becomes Highest Grossing Installment In Series Posted: 01 Jul 2012 10:47 AM PDT Here's a box office update for Sony Pictures' Men In Black 3, which has been playing in theaters since May 25th. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third flick in the successful film series has now grossed $599.4 million worldwide, which is the highest gross in the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed series. The original Men In Black earned $589.4Men In Black II (2002) grossed a lower $441.8M globally. Men In Black 3's international gross was $429.8M, compared to $169.6M domestically (ironically, this is the lowest domestic gross of the series). The threequel (which stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin) has earned big numbers in Japan, grossing $37.6M so far. The movie has grossed $32.8M in the UK, while receiving $24.2M in Germany. This should be good news for Sony, as there has been discussions of a possible fourth film in the series. | BOX OFFICE: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Kicks Off Its International Opening With $50M Posted: 01 Jul 2012 09:10 AM PDT Despite some sceptics doubting that The Amazing Spider-Man would make a significant impact at the box office, it has now been revealed (via @giteshpandya) that the reboot is off to an impressive start, taking over $50 million in only 13 international territories. The film will begin rolling out in larger markets such as North America and the United Kingdom from this Tuesday. It made the most in Korea ($13.4 million), although Japan followed closely behind with $11.4 million. Surprisingly, it was in India that the film made the biggest impact, not with the largest amount (£6 million) but still the highest ever for an American film and 73% bigger than both Spider-Man 3 and Marvel's The Avengers. And for the 10th installment we're going to look at Spider-Man 4 which was in early development before Spider-Man 3 was released to virtually universal disappointment. Not to say that the film was bad per say, but the bar for the third installment was set incredibly high thanks to its predecessor and the the final product came up well short. However, before the film's release, Sony was counting on the third film dominating the box office and was quietly planning for not only the fourth film but a fifth as well, which was to be shot simultaneously. Ideas were actively being discussed, shot down and reintroduced by involved parties before the whole thing finally collapsed. | Posted: 01 Jul 2012 07:01 AM PDT As much as I'm sure this guy is a talented actor , and as exceptionally well as Ricardo Montalban did portraying an Asian, how about picking an actual Asian actor, there are some great choices available, for a new Khan in the rebooted Star Trek series. Swing for the hills and actually recruit a leading actor FROM Asia - Shah Rukh Khan I do not understand why we have to whitewash movies in this day and age. One would hope the debacle around the Shyamalan's Last Airbender would have taught folks a lesson or two. As it seems Mr. Abrams appears perfectly content to make sure that after all the gee-whiz-bang is over, one should move on; he seems almost allergic to or afraid to portray great characters and good narrative.
