Guillermo Del Toro Offers Update On HULK TV Series

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 10:49 AM PDT

Speaking with MTV Splashpage at San Diego Comic-Con, director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, next year's Pacific Rim) is asked about the current status of his planned Hulk television series. "I have had a couple of minutes with Marvel since 'Avengers,' and they have the screenplay," del Toro said. "We're waiting for a particular writer to do a rewrite on the pilot. That's where we are right now. But we're still on." Additionally, del Toro didn't hesitate to express his love for Marvel's recent blockbuster The Avengers. "I think 'Avengers' is beautiful because you give a movie like that -- that size, that scope -- to a guy that has the tone and the pulse of those things dead on, and that's beauty or curse, you know?" the director said. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Fans still holding tickets for a canceled 1979 show in Rhode Island by British rock band The Who can finally use them.

The Who's 1979 concert in Providence was canceled by then-Mayor Buddy Cianci, who cited safety concerns after a stampede before a show in Cincinnati, Ohio, killed 11 people. The band hasn't been to Providence since.

The Who this week announced it will end its latest tour in Providence on Feb. 26 at the same venue where its show was canceled 33 years ago, now called the Dunkin Donuts Center.

Live Sues Ex-Singer Ed Kowalcyzk For Claiming to Still Be in Band, Seek $2 Million

Although in the eyes of Ed Kowalcyzk his relationship with his former group Live might be dead, the remaining members of the group are suing him to ensure he doesn't use the name. In fact, they're seeking an injunction and $2 million in statutory damages for trademark infringement, trademark dilution and false designation of origin.

According to Billboard, Action Front Unlimited, the company created by Kowalcyzk, guitarist Chad Taylor, drumer Chad Gracey and bassist Patrick Dahlheimer to run the band's operations, is accusing the former singer of using the Live trademark in promotional material and tour advertisements. Kowalcyzk is also accused of misrepresenting the public as to his status, causing "confusion" as he's reportedly touring as "Ed Kowalcyzk of Live." The suit also claims promoters, booking agents and venues are being led to believe Kowalcyzk, who left the band in 2009, is still in the band and that his new music isn't endorsed by Live.

As well, Kowalcyzk released a solo album entitled Alive, which perhaps only added to the general public's confusion.

SupermanEchols Reviews THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 09:25 AM PDT

Immersive is the best way to describe the world Christopher Nolan has built with his Batman films. No, these are not the most comic-accurate portrayals geeks and nerds worldwide could have hoped for when Batman was re-booted back in 2005, yet the Gotham that Nolan has crafted seems all so real and able to pull the audience in like no other director in recent memory has been capable of. As a fitting end to his Bat-trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises once again captivates the viewer and truly immerses you in the tragedy and triumph that Bruce Wayne endures as Gotham City's savior. The latest entry to the series picks up quite a bit of time after the events of The Dark Knight. Repercussions from Harvey Dent's actions have directly impacted many of the main players. Gordon (Gary Oldman) holds the secret about the truth regarding Dent's descent

Sam Raimi Talks "Gut-Wrenching" EVIL DEAD Remake And THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 10:18 AM PDT

Sam Raimi's Evil Dead is a cult classic, so the news that it is being remade by Fede Alvarez has been met with a great deal of trepidation from fans. However, Raimi is seemingly very happy with how the film is coming along, telling MTV News that it is very much its own thing and, "really gut-wrenching, real low budget and intense." Oh, and Ash? He most definitely won't have any sort of role in this one despite speculation. Meanwhile, in another interview with the site, he reveals that he has yet to see The Amazing Spider-Man, but has a great deal of respect for director Marc Webb. "I have not seen it yet but I hear it's great. It's not weird at all. I've spoken to him a number of times. I've run into him. We've commiserated together. I like him very much. I respect him as a filmmaker and

ABOUT THE MOVIE

From Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy&#174-winning director Rich Moore comes Wreck-It Ralph, a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping adventure. For decades, Ralph has been overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, Jr., the good-guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. Tired of playing the role of a bad guy, Ralph takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a journey across the arcade through multiple generations of video games to prove he's got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, Ralph meets tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun from the first-person action game Hero's Duty, and feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, who may just be his first real friend. But everything changes when a deadly enemy is unleashed, threatening the entire arcade and Vanellope herself. Ralph finally gets his chance to save the day-but can he do it in time?

Wreck-It Ralph comes to theaters November 2nd, 2012 and stars John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Alan Tudyk, Ed O'Neill, Mindy Kaling, Adam Carolla. The film is directed by Rich Moore.

Following his 2010 jam "Someone Out There," AKA JK (a.k.a. Jonathan Kreinik), longtime live sound engineer for The Rapture, has returned with another single "2600," an apparent homage to the ARP 2600 analog synth.

The Sarah Frances Kuhn-directed video features various costumes, neon-lit, kaleidoscope-treated sex and drug footage, and a fair amount of suspicious reading, as well.

"Sarah Francis Kuhn did a video for her band Open Ocean's song 'Sink Or Swim,' I saw it at an art show in an old convent in Williamsburg and knew if I made a video for one of my songs I wanted her to do it," Kreinik tells us, of his decision to work with Kuhn.

The Amazing Spider-Man Director Marc Webb May Not Return for the Sequel

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 09:40 AM PDT

Marc Webb may not be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad recently reflected on his upcoming second year as sole president of the company in an in-depth Hollywood Reporter interview.

In it, he reveals the big news that The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb may not be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, due to the fact that he owes 20th Century Fox a follow-up movie to his smash hit indie (500) Days of Summer.

"We'd really like him back, but there are obstacles. He has an obligation to Fox."

He then admitted that there were some noticeable problems with the superhero reboot.

"The section where Rhys Ifans ' character turns irrevocably into the Lizard. It took several months to figure out, and the filmmakers cut a bunch of scenes. In software parlance, it required a patch."

In more positive news, he confirms that the 21 Jump Street sequel will start shooting before the year is out.

"We plan to start shooting in the fall. There are very few actors who can do romance, action and comedy. We're in business with two of them, Channing Tatum and Will Smith."

Doug Belgrad also promises that a Jumanji reboot, the film about the board game that comes to life starring Robin Williams, is in line for a proper reboot. We sure hope they cast Azealia Banks in some capacity.

"We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present."

In Men In Black news, The Columbia Pictures President also confirmed that there will be a 4th installment.

"We're very pleased with the financial performance of Men in Black 3, and we believe it is an ongoing franchise. We're going to do [another one], but we don't have clarity yet on how it should be done."

In a final bit of news, Doug Belgrad revealed that they will wait for Aaron Sorkin to finish writing Steve Jobs before moving forward on a director and cast for this upcoming biopic.

"Aaron Sorkin will adapt it first, and we've been waiting for him to start. He's been very busy with his HBO show, The Newsroom. We feel that there's nobody better for this job than Aaron. It won't be a traditional birth-to-death biopic, and Aaron is looking for an idea that is more akin to how The Social Network unfolded."

The Amazing Spider-Man was released July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Campbell Scott. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters May 2nd, 2014.
