BOX OFFICE: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Hits $537.2M Worldwide; Looks Set To Earn $1B

Posted: 29 Jul 2012 10:07 AM PDT

The Dark Knight Rises had a fairly limited international release last weekend, but now that is is open in a total of 57 markets (nearly 17,000 screens), the threequel has earned an estimated $122.1 million according to Deadline. That takes its current international total to an impressive $248.2 million, and after it grossed $64 million in North America this weekend - where it now has a domestic total of $289 million - that gives it a worldwide cume of $537.2 million. Despite a slower than expected start due to the tragic Aurora, Colorado, shooting, this is a good indication that The Dark Knight Rises will finish its theatrical run with $1 billion (The Dark Knight hit that figure only after being re-released). Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan,

POLL: Which Movie In Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY Was Your Favourite?

Posted: 29 Jul 2012 09:47 AM PDT

Batman Begins told the definitive origin story of Batman. The Dark Knight brought us Heath Ledger's Oscar winning performance as The Joker. The Dark Knight Rises was an epic conclusion to the trilogy which finished Christopher Nolan's take on the Caped Crusader in true style. Over the course of three films, we followed Bruce Wayne's incredible journey, while also being introduced to many of the greatest Batman supporting characters and villains. Throw in some of the best actors in the business, incredible action and special effects, as well as a rousing theme courtesy of composer Hans Zimmer, and there can be no doubting the fact that The Dark Knight Trilogy will go down as one of the greatest ever. Here's your chance to decide which of them is your favourite! • Read my review of Batman Begins by clicking HERE. • Read my review of The Dark Knight by clicking HERE. • Read my

Saw /r/anime do something like this and it turned out really fun. The goal is (as the title says) to post a shitty description and let others guess which movie it is.

Movies based on Video games are often considered terrible, but are there any that defy this stereotype?

Posted: 29 Jul 2012 09:04 AM PDT

I'll start off, I REALLY enjoyed Silent Hill. I thought it captured the essence extremely well while not remaining totally in line with the lore.

I also have a soft spot for the Dead or Alive movie even though most people consider it bad.

Any other suggestions?

If we got another Batman movie in the Nolan universe, who would you choose as your dream villain/actor combo?

Posted: 29 Jul 2012 08:47 AM PDT

Personally, I would love to see Bryan Cranston as Mr. Freeze. With Nolan's direction, I think he might actually have a shot at rivaling Ledger's performance in TDK.

Runner-up: Michael C. Hall as The Riddler.

EDIT: Some of my favorites so far:

Christoph Waltz as The Riddler

Daniel Day Lewis as Mr. Freeze

Timothy Spall as The Penguin

Just watched E.T. for the first time at age 22. I have some things to say and ask. (spoilers??)

Posted: 29 Jul 2012 07:06 AM PDT

*1. Great film, somewhat timeless. ET was actually rather believable most of the time.

*2. Those stupid astronaut looking CIA people that entered the home towards the end almost ruined everything for me. Too dramatic and ridiculous IMO.

*3. Does ANYONE know what brand of headphones that one kid was wearing the whole movie? They nearly covered the entirety of his head! Super funny.

*4. Drew Barrymore. I didn't know she was in the movie until half way through and I yelled "HOLY SHIT is that Drew??" and my friends looked at me like I was very stupid.

*5. I don't know how I missed out on E.T. growing up. I mean, I knew about it, and I knew the premise of the movie, just never had the opportunity of seeing it. I have seen most if not all of Spielberg's other classics though.
