Robert Englund will star in Joe Dante's Air Disturbance

New Films Cinema will start filming on November 27 in Los Angeles for the horror-thriller Air Disturbance, which will be directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins, Small Soldiers) and stars Dylan Walsh (The Stepfather, The Lake House) and Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy vs. Jason). The female lead has yet to be cast.

Nesim Hason (Dead Awake, Chain Letter) produces with Tom Malloy (The Alphabet Killer, Sprawl) and the film will be distributed by Hason's New Films International. Jeremy Sklar (Freerunner) wrote the script.

In Air Disturbance, the horrific action takes place at 35,000 feet on a transcontinental flight from Los Angeles to Toronto. Dylan Walsh plays Sam Davidson, a widowed father of two, whose wife recently committed suicide. When strange atmospheric conditions begin to affect the aircraft, Sam protects his children and his psychic girlfriend from some of the other passengers, particularly a fanatical minister (Robert Englund) who believes that the supernatural phenomena could be a sign from God.

RUMOR: Could We See Matthew Vaughn As The Director Of STAR WARS EPISODE 7?

Posted: 05 Nov 2012 10:03 AM PST

We are going to read a lot of rumors for Star Wars Episode VII. The main thing everyone wants to know is, who will direct the film? Well, Collider has a nice little rumor on that. As they, nothing is confirmed, so for now, take this with a grain of salt. But, according to the report, X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn might be in talks to direct this new chapter: I'm hearing that Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kick-Ass, Stardust, Layer Cake, and X-Men: First Class, is in talks with Lucasfilm to helm Star Wars: Episode VII. My sources tell me this is the main reason he dropped out of the X-Men sequel (which Bryan Singer is now directing). There you go. If this turns out to be true, then I'm all for it. Vaughn is a great director, and I think he would be a very interesting choice. Walt Disney

Actor John Cusack is reportedly considering a biopic on ultra-conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh.

Deadline.com says the film is in early stages, but Cusack and director Betty Thomas are both interested.

The as-yet-untitled Limbaugh biopic would be non-partisan. "The script would explore the rise and reinvention of American talk radio, and Limbaugh's continued influence and impact over the last three decades in that world," said a spokesman for Cusack's production company, True Crimes Productions.

Tomorrow, two consititutional amendments will appear on Minnesota residents' voter ballots. The first defines marriage in the Minnesota Constitution as between one man and one woman. The second amendment would require all voters to present I.D. to vote.

Minnesota-based writer, rapper and Doomtree member Dessa is speaking out to urge her fellow Minnesotans to vote "no" on both amendments on tomorrow's ballot.

"To everybody who's concerned that without the protection of [Amendment 1], your kids are going to be forced to learn about gay stuff in school -- your kids are already forced to learn about gay stuff in school. Anybody who reads Walt Whitman, anybody who studies WWII and learns that the mathematician Alan Turing helped win the war for the allied side, is learning about gay stuff," Dessa states in the video below. "Please vote no, twice, on November 6."

Casablanca Sequel to Be Based on Howard Koch Treatment

Posted: 05 Nov 2012 09:13 AM PST

Casablanca sequel may be happening at Warner Bros.

In this day and age of remakes and sequels, hardly anything is sacred anymore, with classics such as Raging Bull and Scarface getting new versions. Today, we have word that Warner Bros. is considering moving ahead with a sequel to Casablanca, based on a treatment written more than 30 years ago by screenwriter Howard Koch.

Warner Bros. had originally planned to make a sequel entitled Brazzaville shortly after Casablanca's release, where it was revealed that Rick (Humphrey Bogart) and Captain Renault (Claude Rains) were actually secret Allied agents. The project never moved forward. Now, Peter Koch, the son of Casablanca writer Howard Koch, is working on a new version that centers on the child of Rick and Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), set 20 years after the original film. Here's what the producer had to say about this follow-up's story.

"After leaving Casablanca for America, Ilsa learned she was pregnant. She gave birth to a boy who grew up in America. The real father of the boy, it turns out, was not Laszlo but Rick. He was conceived the night Ilsa came to Rick's place to plead for the Letters of Transit. The secret was not kept from Laszlo, but being the kind of man he was and owing so much to Rick, he adopted the child and treated him as his own son. The boy was named Richard, and he grew up to be a handsome, tough-tender young man reminiscent of his father. He had been told the truth about his origin and has a deep desire to find his real father, or at least more about him, since Rick's heroic at actions in Casablanca have become legendary."

The story follows Richard's journey to Casablanca after his mother and Laszlo passed away. Cass Warner, the granddaughter of Warner Bros. founder Jack L. Warner, will produce. She indicated the studio passed on the project a year and a half ago, but they also expressed interest in revisiting it if she could find a filmmaker the studio wants to work with.

Casablanca was released January 1st, 1942 and stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, S.Z. Sakall. The film is directed by Michael Curtiz.

Steven Seagal talks Maximum Conviction on Blu-ray

Steven Seagal talks Maximum Conviction, due out on Blu-ray and DVD November 6

Steven Seagal has shined as an innovative action icon throughout his legendary career, dating back to his 1988 debut Above the Law. His latest movie, Maximum Conviction, pairs him up with former WWE wrestler-turned actor Steve Austin, where they play ex-soldiers tasked with decommissioning a prison, when they are attacked by a mysterious group of mercenaries. I recently had the chance to speak with Steven Seagal for Maximum Conviction, due out on Blu-ray and DVD November 6. Here's what he had to say.

I noticed that both yourself and Steve Austin had worked with director Keoni Waxman before. I was curious at what point did this project come about, and did he mention wanting to work with both of you in the same project before?

Steven Seagal: Well, Keoni is a very good friend of mine. I'm his biggest fan. He's a great director, great writer, and it's always my pleasure to work with him.

So had he ever mentioned you and Steve Austin working together?

Steven Seagal: That I don't know. I never really asked him that.

You can tell from the first scene with both you and Steve Austin that these characters have a history together. Did you develop any kind of back story as to what kind of background they have together?

Steven Seagal: Yeah, I think the way we tried to work it out was we had been operating together in this special forces community for a long time. We had been teammates for a long time. That's how we worked it out.

Did you have to do any research into these private security contractors at all?

Steven Seagal: You know, between you and I, I am one of those guys in real life (Laughs).

Can you talk a bit about working with Steve, and the rapport you developed on the set?

Steven Seagal: I found him to be a constant professional. I really enjoyed him as a friend, a human being, an actor. He's a really good actor, and just a wonderful guy. He's just a simple country boy like me, so I got along with him really well.

Can you talk a bit about how your fighting style has evolved throughout your career? This one goes back to the old-fashioned bone-breaking from your earlier movies like Above the Law. Is there anything specific you want to bring to these scenes, at this point in your career?

Steven Seagal: I just try to come up with stuff that people haven't seen a million times.

You produced this as well. I was wondering if you could talk about your roles as an actor and producer, moving forward in your career? Does this help you make the movies you really want to make, instead of being a cog in the studio system?

Steven Seagal: Everybody right now, with the economy the way it is, people can try to bullshit you and tell you whatever they want. The movie business, everybody just wants to work. We don't always control what we're doing, but every once in awhile, I get to do the kind of movie that I really relate to. This was a movie I could relate to, and a role I could relate to, more the role than anything.

Can you talk a bit about where you actually shot this? Was this an actual prison that you went to?

Steven Seagal: I think it was an actual prison. I think it was an abandoned prison.

Can you talk about working with the rest of the cast? There are quite a diverse group of actors in this one. Can you talk about the tone on the set with the whole cast?

Steven Seagal: I just thought it was really nice. Those two female inmates were really fine actresses and a pleasure to work with. It was just a fun movie to do.

Is there anything you can say about True Justice? Do you know if that will be moving forward with a new season?

Steven Seagal: It's a good possibility. I don't have the ultimate say-so on that, so we'll see.

There are a lot of actors in this that had smaller roles in True Justice. Was it fun bringing a lot of these people back?

Steven Seagal: Yeah, a lot of times the director wants to work with people who are familiar to him.

Is there anything you're developing right now as a producer or an actor?

Steven Seagal: There is a movie Tip of the Spear, which is about the border wars, which I'm in the process of financing. There are three or four things I'm very close to.

What would you like to say to your fans or fans of the action genre, about why they should pick up Maximum Conviction on Blu-ray or DVD?

Steven Seagal: I think people find it fun. Steve and I out there together, going after the bad guys (Laughs).

Great. That's about all I have. Thanks so much, Steven. It was a pleasure talking to you.

Steven Seagal: Thank you, brother.

You can watch Steven Seagal team up with Steve Austin in Maximum Conviction, debuting on Blu-ray and DVD November 6.

Maximum Conviction comes to theaters November 6th, 2012 and stars Steven Seagal, Steve Austin, Michael Paré, Steph Song, Zak Santiago, Kirby Morrow, Bren Ismail, Aliyah O'Brien. The film is directed by Keoni Waxman.
