To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse. Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman. The film is set to hit theaters

BOX OFFICE: STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Finally Crosses $100 Million In North America

Posted: 23 May 2013 10:36 AM PDT

Despite a 3D conversion, Star Trek Into Darkness took almost the exact same amount of time as 2009's Star Trek to surpass $100 million at the North American box office. It was originally thought that the sequel would surpass this number by last Sunday, especially as it opened early on Wednesday in IMAX screens. Regardless, the film took $5.33 million yesterday, which gives it a current domestic total of $103.77 million. This weekend will see both Fast & Furious 6 and The Hangover Part III hit screens across the country, although it's thought that the former will dominate with upwards of $85 million. As these films roll out internationally as well (Fast & Furious 6 had the second highest opening of 2013 in the UK last week), they will more than likely make a large dent in Star Trek Into Darkness' overseas takings, so a third instalment is from from guaranteed

Henry Cavill Wants a Superman Batman Crossover Movie

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill wants a Superman/Batman crossover movie

With Man of Steel opening in less than a month, Henry Cavill has been making the press rounds lately, and the actor recently spoke about how he would like to see a Superman/Batman crossover movie.

"I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict, because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story."

When asked if this movie is actually in the works, Henry Cavill offered this response.

"Who knows, I'm sure there's all sorts of ideas being thrown around at Warner Bros right now."

While we have not seen a live-action team-up between the Man of Steel and The Dark Knight, the heroes have been seen together in animated films such as Justice League: The New Frontier, Justice League: Doom, and LEGO Batman: The Movie - DC Superheroes Unite, which was released on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

Warner Bros. also has the superhero ensemble Justice League, which would likely feature Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and many other DC heroes, in development, but it isn't known when that project will go into production.

Ray Stevenson Talks The Destruction of Asgard in Thor: The Dark World

Posted: 23 May 2013 09:48 AM PDT

Ray Stevenson says the stakes are raised for Asgard in Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World star Ray Stevenson, who plays Volstagg, revealed in a recent interview that the stakes are much greater this time around. Here's what he had to say, hinting that Asgard may be completely destroyed in this Marvel Phase Two sequel.

"In the first Thor Asgard had this tremendous peace among the Nine Realms. They were riding at the heights. Everything is working and looking as it should be. In this one, the realms are being whipped up into various rebellions. There is a darker malignant force out there and we are in the process of engaging in long protracted skirmishes and battles. The luster and shine of the city has been taken off and it all leads to a huge assault, an attack at the heart of Asgard. It could be completely wiped out, the stakes are a lot higher."

The actor also revealed that Volstagg is somewhat conflicted in this follow-up, because of the danger that this new enemy, Christopher Eccleston's Malekith the Accursed, presents to Asgard.

"He's great on a battlefield. He is one of the warriors three and doing what they do, their time is spent fighting on many different fronts. They're not always fighting together. Volstagg is struggling, he has a brood, they are fighting for hearth and home as much as for the idea of Asgard itself. That's where he has trouble. He's all too aware of how potentially threatening this new enemy is on both the home front and the battlefield."

Thor: The Dark World comes to theaters November 8th, 2013 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston. The film is directed by Alan Taylor.
