New Kid's Cartoon On The Way Featuring SHE-ZOW; The Transgender Superhero

Posted: 29 May 2013 10:41 AM PDT

Transgenderism seems to have been explored quite a bit in comics recently (Batgirl, Storm Dogs, FF, Red Hood And The Outlaws etc) and now it'll be the basic for a new cartoon. But while those comic books are aimed at teens, She-Zow will target a younger audience in an attempt to raise awareness and promote understanding of the concept early on. "A 12-year-old boy — named Guy — uses a magic ring to transform himself into a legendary crime fighter. When evil lurks, Guy says, "You go girl!" and becomes SheZow." Obviously like most things of this nature, there are those for and against the idea. You can read more about it over at The LA Times, but be sure to sound off with your thoughts on the matter below. EDITORIAL: What Got You Into Comics?

Posted: 28 May 2013 07:48 PM PDT

We are all here for basically the same reason, we all enjoy comic books and everything else that falls in or around the same territory. But many of us have different reasons on why and how we became associated with these imaginative illustrated stories. My story and introduction to comics starts when I was in third grade. My best friend and cousin Bryan Kiefer slapped me on the arm when the teacher told us to pull out something to read and said: "check this out". And handed to me... I had seen clips and peaks of the iconic characters films thanks to my older brother but never knew such an art form in this manner existed. I couldn't stop staring at the artwork and how graphic the pictures that someone drew were. The only comics I knew of were in the Sunday paper and, frankly, I thought they were lame or had

Viggo Mortensen WAS Asked About Returning For THE HOBBIT, But Declined

Posted: 29 May 2013 08:29 AM PDT

In a recent interview, Viggo Mortensen said that he loved playing Aragorn in Peter Jackson's first Middle Earth trilogy, and that he might even consider returning to the role if the 60-year gap between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings was ever adapted for film. But now while speaking to The Guardian, the actor reveals that there was interest in having him return as Aragorn in the main story, and he declined -- giving reasons that many Tolkien purists will definitely relate to! Mortensen also admits that he has yet to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but is looking forward to doing so. "Before they started shooting, back in 2008, one of the producers did ask if I would be interested. I said, 'You do know, don't you, that Aragorn isn't in The Hobbit? That there is a 60-year gap between the books?' I'm interested in
