Mark Hamill Talks In Detail About What He Wants To See In STAR WARS EPISODE VII

Posted: 05 May 2013 10:41 AM PDT

Mark Hamill made a special guest appearance at last night's EW CapeTown Film Festival 30th anniversary screening of Return of the Jedi, and IGN Movies has compiled a selection of quotes from his Q&A session with those lucky enough to be in attendance. Looking back on the making of that film, Hamill recalled George Lucas approaching him about his idea for more trilogies. "I don't even think I believed that the third trilogy would feature us. I thought it would be all different characters. To my knowledge, we were just going to do a beginning, a middle and an end [in the original trilogy] and it was over." When it came to Episode VII, the actor - who in one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood STILL hasn't been confirmed as appearing in the J.J. Abrams helmed sequel - once again mentioned his meeting with Lucas and Carrie Fisher last

Jim Lee has seen MAN OF STEEL and Approves of it!

Posted: 05 May 2013 03:04 AM PDT

Jim Lee, working at DC Comics, go to see Man Of Steel early and made some brief comments about it to CBS and Fox News. You can read what he had to say or watch the entire interview. He also talks about Superman Unchained. Its epic. It's got a lot of heart. But one things that was missing from the last Superman movie was the action and this movie has it in spades. It is a visual thrill ride. It is amazing. You get to see all the powers of Superman in all its glory and I think people are going to blown away. Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com Henry is awesome in the movie. He is very different form Brandon and Christopher. He's a man's man, very virile and very yoked (jacked), believable, very brooding, at the same time it's a real fresh take on Superman. The special effects are way

"Everything has evolved to kill humans"--from the "After Earth" trailer--is one of the worst movie phrases I've ever heard. What are other movie lines that make your mind boggle in a bad way?

Posted: 05 May 2013 10:24 AM PDT

Quick note on why I think it's stupid: it seems that the premise of the movie is that no human has been on earth for a long time. But nature doesn't simply "evolve"; it evolves a certain way given certain environmental and hereditary circumstances. One does not simply evolve to kill humans if they aren't around.

Also, I just googled the movie and found out it was written and directed by M. Night Shmamalanimin...OF COURSE!

RED DAWN 2012, a massive missed opportunity

Posted: 05 May 2013 08:57 AM PDT

I only saw the 2012 version last night. The 1984 version was an attempt to put the viewer in the shoes of the mujaheddin in Afghanistan, to help you internalize the plight of the insurgent fighter against the great Bear oppressor. It did its bits of 80s camp in the action scenes, but so much of it felt dirrt, gritty, hard. The execution of Darryl and the ending with the 2 brothers in the playground were scenes that stuck with you. It was a movie that did a good job of capturing the mood of the time it was made.

The 2012 film was made AFTER the USA had a decade of experience of fighting against insurgents. It would have been an excellent opportunity to put the viewer in the shoes of the insurgent, questions of civilian targets, suicide attacks, accepting aid from foreign fighters who may be bad-guys in their own right. All COULD have been explored, but were ignored for an action fantasy where young people looked beautiful and no one ever got dirty. The moral questions were obvious and one sided, and no one had to make a hard choice.
Massive Missed opportunity.
