Chucky Lives in Curse of Chucky Behind-the-Scenes Photos! Posted: 15 Jun 2013 10:48 AM PDT Three behind-the-scenes photos have revealed that Chucky is alive, and well, and tormenting a girl in a wheelchair in Curse of Chucky. Franchise mainstay Jennifer Tilly took to her Twitter account, while writer/director/creator Don Mancini jumped on his Facebook page to share this sneak peak at the eagerly awaited horror sequel. Universal will be releasing Curse of Chucky sometime this fall on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD (though no specific date has been announced). Fiona Dourif, real-life daughter of long-time Chucky voice actor Brad Dourif, stars as Nica, a young woman grieving the gruesome death of her mother. She soon comes to blows with her older sister, in town with her family to settle estate issues. Her niece attempts to comfort Nica with a certain red haired doll she mysteriously received in the mail, and the rest will go down in gore history. Check out these shots, which offer a look at the latest manufacturing run of Chucky dolls (must be a nostalgia thing), along with Nica in her wheelchair, and Fiona listening to one of Chucky's tales from the 80s set, which captivate all who hear it. Curse of Chucky will be released in 2014 and stars Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, A Martinez, Brennan Elliott, Chantal Quesnel, Kevin Anderson. The film is directed by Don Mancini.

Man of Steel Takes in $56.1 Million at the Friday Box Office Posted: 15 Jun 2013 10:07 AM PDT When it comes to box office records, some movies will take what they can get. And Man of Steel has a lot riding on it at the moment. Its success is the future of DC Comics on the big screen, with both Justice League and an Untitled Batman Reboot waiting to hear how it fares with audiences both critically and monetarily before they can even begin to dream of moving forward. Thus far, Man of Steel has pulled in an impressive $56.1 million through its Friday debut. The movie took in a little over $12 million from an early ticketing program set up through Walmart, which saw the film into theaters on Thursaday night at 7:30 pm. It then proceeded to pull in another $46 million from general audiences on Friday ($9 million of which came from Midnight showings). This makes it the biggest June opening in the history of cinema. It is also the second highest grossing opening of 2013, behind Iron Man 3. Faster than a speeding bullet, word of mouth is spreading across the country. Despite some bad reviews (it is only at 57% on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences are giving the film an A- cinema score. Early predictions have the film's final first weekend tally at $130, maybe a little over or under. That's almost $15 million more than Green Lantern made during its entire run ($53 million opening; $116 final domestic box office take). And it should have no problem out pacing 2006's Superman Returns with its $52 million opening and final $200 million domestic take. This is an audience film, with fans generally applauding what they see. That means it has strong staying power at the box office. Expect word of mouth to keep Man of Steel afloat for at least a couple of weeks. All you DC comic fans who are anxiously awaiting the next step in their cinematic plan can breath a little easier. It looks like this is a hit. We may see Justice League after all. Man of Steel was released June 14th, 2013 and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, Richard Schiff. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

BOX OFFICE: MAN OF STEEL Takes Flight With An Incredible $56 Million Opening Posted: 15 Jun 2013 08:24 AM PDT Man of Steel is exceeding expectations, and despite some negative reviews from critics, its A- CinemaScore means that good word of mouth has put it well on its way to a $125 million weekend at this point. The Zack Snyder helmed and Christopher Nolan produced reboot took $44.1 million yesterday, giving it a total of $56.1 million thanks to Thursday's Walmart screenings. With a production budget of $225 million, it's essential that Man of Steel do well this weekend in order to ensure both a sequel and future DC superhero movies (especially after Green Lantern seriously underperformed for Warner Bros. back in 2011). However, it has already made close to $200 million from sponsors, and many analysts believe that it will soar past that same figure at the worldwide box office by the end of the weekend.
