Robert Downey Jr. Signs New Contract To Return As IRON MAN In THE AVENGERS 2 And 3

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 10:39 AM PDT

Regardless of whether you loved or loathed "Iron Man 3" the prospect of a sequel to "The Avengers" devoid of Robert Downey Jr. was a dreary prospect no one wanted to face. Well good news Marvel faithful, the actor has signed a new 2-picture agreement to appear in "The Avengers 2" AND "The Avengers 3." There's no mention of an "Iron Man 4" in the contract so as the actor previously hinted, it's probably safe to assume that there won't be any solo outings for the 'Armored Avenger' anytime soon. You can read the official press release from Marvel.com below. The news from Marvel also hints at more such announcements to come in the next few days, weeks and months. Of course, expect the Hollywood trades to start digging for scoops to beat Marvel to the punch. The countdown to San Diego Comic-Con has officially begun! Official Press Release "I

Disney XD's STAR WARS: REBELS Animated Series To Star A Group Of Teenagers

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 10:39 AM PDT

Not too long ago, Lucasfilm announced that a new animated series titled Star Wars: Rebels will premiere on Disney XD next year. Focusing on the formation of the Rebel Alliance, the show will take place in between Episodes III and IV, and yesterday we heard that it will focus on new characters as well as familiar faces from the legendary franchise. Now, Bleeding Cool reports some more info on the series. The subtitle "Rebels" applies to the main characters (unsurprisingly), and the majority of these protagonists are said to be teenagers. Before you get too worried, Bleeding Cool notes that, despite the show being aimed at a younger audience, none of these characters are expected to be on the same level as someone like Jar-Jar Binks. Instead, they're "just a lot of youthful protagonists being teens at the same time as sci-fi heroes." What do you think of this news? And

Stephen Amell On ARROW Season 2 Romance Possibilities With Laurel And Felicity

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 10:08 AM PDT

On where things between Laurel and Oliver pick up at the start of Season 2. "Based on everything that happens in the finale, I think it's going to be difficult for Oliver and Laurel to just pick up and go on like nothing's happened. They had a wedge between them which was Sarah and all that Oliver did to her and now [everything] that's happened with Tommy and the aftermath of that, it's going to be extremely difficult for them to just pick up from where they were. In the comic books [Green Arrow and Black Canary] connect, but we're still dealing with 'Oliver and Laurel' and 'Oliver and Thea' and 'Oliver and Moira' and basically Oliver and everyone except Felicity and Diggle - they're not operating on a truthful level. So we're never really going to know what Oliver's relationship with Laurel can be until everything is on the

MAN OF STEEL Costume Illustrations: Lara & Kryptonian Council Members; Plus Early Faora Outfit

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 10:07 AM PDT

Film Sketchr just posted a new Man Of Steel interview with costume illustrator, Phillip Boutte Jr.. It also includes artwork that Phillip created for the film, including: Lara Lor-Van's (Ayelet Zurer) "Mourning" and "Pregnancy" robes, costumes and accessories for the Kryptonian Elders, and an early concept for Faora's armor. An excerpt from the interview: Film Sketchr: It looks like a great team to work with. Was there any challenge you had to overcome and how did you overcome it? Phillip Boutte Jr.: The biggest challenge I faced was helping to figure out what was special about the Kryptonian Tribunal members. Specifically, their ornate headdresses and steel cage crinoline-like bust plates. Our designer had a very specific direction in mind that he wanted to go and it took me a while to get there. The initial point of inspiration, believe it or not, were the Skeksis from the movie "The Dark Crystal". We

Is Sarah Gadon the New Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 3?

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 10:19 AM PDT

It's really starting to sound like Shailene Woodley has been replaced as Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. It broke yesterday that the character was being cut out of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and that the actress would instead make her debut as Peter Parker's future wife in the third film, set for 2016.

Later in the day, there were murmurs that the actress was being recast, due to her commitment to the YA adaptation Divergent. If it's a hit, work on a sequel will begin immediately, leaving no time for Shailene to appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Though, with its 2016 release date already set in stone, its unclear exactly when this next chapter in the saga of Peter Parker and the search for his parents will begin production, or if it will even conflict with a possible Divergent 2.

Its been heavily speculated that Shailene Woodley was actually dropped from The Amazing Spider-Man franchise because she was wrong for the part. She appeared to be playing a motorcycle-riding tomboy, and as fans across the Internet were quick to cruelly point out, her look was way off base for the character. Though, her look also seemed to fit perfectly within the lines of this particular reboot.

Now, its sounding more and more like producers are in agreement with the very vocal fanbase, and that Shailene Woodley has, in fact, been re-cast. The actress only shot for three days, completing 3 scenes for the movie, in what would amount to a glorified cameo used to set up the character for future sequels. She was expendable and easy enough to cut out of the narrative.

We're hearing this morning from a source very close to the production that Mary Jane Watson has already been re-cast. If we're to believe this news, Sarah Gadon is our new Mary Jane Watson, and as you can see from this photo, she has a decidedly very different look than Shailene Woodley, one that plays to the pin-up model side of the Marvel character, while also fitting into the flannel moto-cross vibe that could make someone like Gwen very jealous and pull Peter's eye away from his true love.

Sarah Gabon is Mary Jane Watson

Sarah Gabon is Mary Jane Watson 2

Sarah Gadon is a Canadian actress who studied at the University of Toronto. Also a dancer, she made her TV debut in 1998 with a role on La Femme Nikita. She made her feature film debut with the little seen teen comedy Fast Food High in 2003. She most recently appeared in last year's thriller Antiviral, and starred in Cosmopolis opposite Robert Pattinson. She next appears in Dracula with Luke Evans and Dominic Cooper, which mixes the fact of Vlad the Impaler with the fiction of the blood-sucking Count.

The 26-year-old actress was reportedly cast before the news of Mary Jane's departure from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was revealed earlier this week, and since the sequel to Divergent has yet to be announced, it looks like the role was re-cast due to some of the concerns surrounding the character, as rumored.

Shailene Woodley will next be seen in The Spectacular Now, which has gained quite a bit of critical praise, opening in theaters August 2nd. The actress is actually quite in demand at the moment, so this should come as no big loss for her. Not only is she currently shooting Divergent, she is lined up to star in The Fault in Our Stars as well.

What do you think of this news? Is Sarah Gadon the Mary Jane Watson you were hoping for?

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 comes to theaters June 10th, 2016 and stars Andrew Garfield.
