Posted: 09 Jun 2013 06:41 AM PDT In light of all the privacy concerns in the united states i would very much recommend watching V for Vendetta. A lovely and heart wrenching film set in a dystopian society, written by the Wachowski siblings, with Natalie portman and Hugo weaving staring in it. The quote "People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people" is said by Hugo Weaving's character 'V'. What is your favorite dystopian, 1984 like movie and why? [link] [13 comments] | ||

The J.J. Abrams-directed sequel is the fourth film released in 2013 to pass the impressive mark, and despite having a lower-than-expected opening last month, it's now on the verge of outgrossing its 2009 predecessor (which made nearly $258M domestically and $385.7M worldwide). Into Darkness is now at $376.5M globally, and should surpass the '09 Trek sometime this week. Meanwhile, M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth took a -59% drop in its second weekend, and is now at $92M worldwide. The critically panned sci-fi film, which stars Will and Jaden Smith, was produced on a $130M budget. Finally, we have an update on Marvel's Iron Man 3, which is about to gross a massive $1.2B globally. What did you see in theaters this weekend? STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS joined |
