Benicio Del Toro Joins The Cast Of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY; Is He Playing Thanos?

Posted: 03 Jun 2013 10:16 AM PDT

As Guardians of the Galaxy gets closer to beginning filming this summer in London, the cast continues to fill out with extremely impressive actors. Following the announcement that Glenn Close and Karen Gillan will star in the movie, Deadline now reveals that Savages and The Wolfman actor Benicio Del Toro has joined the cast of the James Gunn helmed movie in what they describe as, "a character that is built to be part of future Marvel films, which means he has signed a deal with options that put him into multiple movies." Del Toro lost out on the lead villainous role as "John Harrison" in Star Trek Into Darkness, so what do you guys think are the odds that he will be playing Thanos in both this movie and subsequently Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers?

Hugh Jackman On His Hesitance To Return As WOLVERINE Yet Again

Posted: 03 Jun 2013 10:02 AM PDT

In his impressive career, Hugh Jackman has done what few actors have done and consistently play one superhero on the big screen for over a decade. He starred as Wolverine (the role which really launched his career) in the X-Men trilogy, as well as the spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He also cameo'd in X-Men: First Class, and will be returning to the iconic role in not one, but two upcoming films: The Wolverine on July 26th, and X-Men: Days Of Future Past on July 18th, 2014. There has been speculation as to whether or not Jackman will keep playing the character after Bryan Singer's "inbetweenquel", as he isn't signed on for any more films. Producer Hutch Parker recently said that a third solo Wolverine movie would have to have the right story to even consider it, and speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jackman confirms this. However, he doesn't sound quite as optimistic

Joss Whedon Talks Agent Coulson in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Posted: 03 Jun 2013 09:05 AM PDT

Joss Whedon talks the return of Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel's The Avengers director Joss Whedon recently spoke about the return of Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson in ABC's upcoming TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. While the series creator didn't say exactly how the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent returns, since he clearly died in Marvel's The Avengers, the writer-director did say that it wasn't taken lightly.

""We're gonna earn it. That's not something you take lightly."

Last month, executive producer Jeffrey Bell revealed that actor J. August Richards is not playing Luke Cage. While many are speculating that he is playing Rage, Joss Whedon would not confirm this mystery character's identity.

"I'm not going to say who he's playing. But he's certainly cranky, as you can tell from the trailer."

Joss Whedon also revealed that the series will stand on its own, and that viewers do not need to have seen Marvel's The Avengers or any of the other Marvel Phase One movies to enjoy this show.

"It's very important to me that the show stands on its own, that people who never saw any of the movies can tune in and enjoy it. We like being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we like having all of the mythos to play off of. But if the show was 'You just missed Tony Stark, wow, he was just here," it would be the most unsatisfying show ever. We have a new ensemble, apart from Clark, it's all people I've never worked with before, but I'm really excited about them, I'm really proud of them and I think people are just going to want to see them every week."

ABC has not announced exactly when Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will debut on the network this fall, so stay tuned for that.
