SW4 A New Hope: trash compactor

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 08:35 AM PDT

So I was playing Angry birds - SW a couple of days ago, and had a thought: why did the Death Star actually have a trash compactor? If you are going to dump a couple of tons of trash into a nearby star or gas giant, what do you care if it has this or that volume?

Pixar Universe

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 09:35 AM PDT

Due to Monsters University, the idea of a shared Pixar Universe has crossed my mind again. We all know of the Easter Eggs but many connect the films to a shared universe.

Starting with Toy Story, all three clearly take place in the same world. This starts with Toy Story set in 1995 and ends with Toy Story 3 in 2010. Andy grows in real time.

A Bugs Life can clearly be linked to the Toy Story world. A Pizza Planet Truck is seen above the 'big city' where Flik finds the circus. The whole story could easily happen in Toy Story's world. The bugs are really talking like they do in reality but for story purpose they speak English. More on this later.

Monsters Inc fits into the same Universe. Who is to say a monster never visited Andy while he was younger?

Finding Nemo is next, which stretches the idea a bit. To connect Finding Nemo to the universe it has to be viewed like A Bugs Life. The fish are in their own adventure and for the sake of story we view them talking English. If Andy saw the fish talking he would simply hear nothing.

The Incredibles is different from the rest so far. It is a fictional universe in the Pixar universe. This is proven by a child reading an Incredibles comic in the dentist waiting room during Finding Nemo. This is the only logical explanation since superheroes just would not fit in to the Toy Story world. The Incredibles is therefore a movie that Andy could easily go view at his local cinema.

Cars is the most out there to work. Some believe that its far after WALL-E where using human DNA, cars were created with human personalities. This sounds dumb.

Ratatouille helps prove the theory that we hear animals in English but humans here their normal voices. Remy is clearly shown squeaking when around Linguini. Since this film is set in Paris it is very plausible fits in to the universe.

WALL-E is set far into the future after Toy Story 3 ends. In Toy Story 3 we see Buy n Large batteries showing the terrible fate of our world.

UP at first has little connection but in Toy Story 3 there is a visible letter from Carl and Ellie in Andy's bedroom. Does this mean Andy is somehow related to Carl? Perhaps a Great Uncle?

Brave needs little explanation as can clearly take place 500 years before Toy Story.

TL;DR Pixar has created a universe that stems from the original Toy Story.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.
