Did 'Snow White and the Huntsman' Take 'Avengers' at the Box Office?

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 10:46 AM PDT

This weekend "Snow White and the Huntsman" struck gold, making the second-highest debut of the summer at $56.3mil, reports USA Today.

The opening, second only to "The Avengers" $207 mil launch last month, marks a strong rebound for Universal Pictures, who is still recovering from "Battleship's" less-than-hoped-for $25.5 mil debut on May 18.

If you could completely forget, get hyped again, and then watch a movie in theaters again, what would it be?

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 09:19 AM PDT

I've talked with a bunch of my friends about this, and my opinion has not changed since I saw this movie. A movie that, while still great, has never quite been as good as that first or second time seeing it in theaters. that movie is Cloverfield. I remember the ARG websites (Slusho!). I remember seeing the trailers and being absolutely enthralled with an American monster movie that was going to be good! I remember finally appreciating why people love J.J. Abrams so much. I remember finding out that I missed so much in that movie from online forums and posts and knowing I had to grab another ticket, another bucket of popcorn and see it again.

So how about you? If you could forget and relive the build up, forget and relive the discovery, what movie would you choose to experience all over again?

I cannot watch 90% of comedies a second time. Is anyone else similarly afflicted?

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 08:49 AM PDT

To elaborate, I love a good comedy. Most of the time, though, the comedic value is rooted in the surprise. There are very few that I feel any need to watch again.

Notable examples of REWATCHABLE comedies: The Big Lebowski, South Park movie, Groundhog Day

Am I the only one who thought Snow White and the Huntsman was ruined by K-Stew?

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 10:33 AM PDT

Sure it was visually stunning and all but a) she can't act her way out of a paper bag and b) I felt like 30-45 minutes of the movie could've been completely cut out and it would've been better. Any thoughts, reddit?

Planning on watching Alien/Aliens for the first time soon - which versions should I watch?

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 04:59 AM PDT

I have the Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set, and want to watch at least the first two movies before seeing Prometheus in theaters. However, I have no idea what versions of each film are regarded as the superior cuts: The original theatrical releases, or the Special Edition versions. Could you Alien fans shed some light on the differences, and recommend me the versions you think would be best for first-time viewing?
