Hit and Run Red Band Trailer

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 10:28 AM PDT

Open Road Films has released a red band trailer and the first poster for Hit and Run, a new crime comedy from writer-director-star Dax Shepard.

The multi-hyphenate plays Charlie Bronson, a getaway driver who joins the Witness Protection Program and sets off for Los Angeles with his girlfriend (Kristen Bell). The road trip doesn't go as smoothly as planned, as they're chased by a federal officer (Tom Arnold) and the leader of Charlie's old criminal gang (Bradley Cooper). Be warned, this age-restricted video features lots of R-rated language and some rather disturbing glimpses of topless, elderly ladies.

PROMETHEUS: New Viral Video Recruits Fans For The San Diego Comic-Con

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 10:46 AM PDT

A new viral site called ProjectPrometheus.com has launched and takes fans to a "Careers" page featuring three new viral videos from Weyland Corporation employees. Only the video below (featuring Jamie Rossi, a "nanotechnologist") is currently available, although the next two are sure to follow soon after. However, the most interesting part is that fact that the end of the video reveals the URL, ProjectPrometheus.com/SDCC. There's nothing there just yet, but as any self respecting comic book fan should know, "SDCC" stands for the San Diego Comic Con (taking place next month). Looks like the story of Prometheus is far from over... What do you guys think? There has been some speculation that fans will be given the opportunity to join the Weyland Corporation during the convention next month (perhaps in a similar style to what Marvel did with S.H.I.E.L.D. not too long ago). Sound off with your thoughts on all this in

Another New Featurette For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Focuses On The Web-Shooters

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 10:34 AM PDT

When it was revealed that Spider-Man would be using mechanical web-shooters in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, the positive response from fans was huge. Sam Raimi decided not to use them in his trilogy, instead making the ability to shoot webs just another of Peter Parker's new powers (the comics quickly did the same before reverting to the web-shooters at the beginning of 2008's "Brand New Day"). This latest featurette puts the spotlight on both the creation of the web-shooters for the big screen and their importance in the Spider-Man mythos. The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter

Latest Reviews For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Are More Mixed

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 09:48 AM PDT

Over the past couple of days, sites including IGN, Associated Press and more have released their full reviews for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. Some of these reviews are mixed and have therefore dropped the film's Rotten Tomatoes score from 92% to 78%. Check out excerpts from the reviews down below. But in terms of tone, characters, performances and even visual effects, "The Amazing Spider-Man" feels like its own separate entity. It may not be as transporting or genre-altering an experience as those earlier films, especially the first two, but it finds a distinct voice. And a great deal of that has to do with the central performance from Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Rating: 3/4 Source: Associated Press Superhero movies have been going strong for 12 years now, putting more pressure on "The Amazing Spider-Man" to start fresh, deliver the goods, stand on its own merits and honor the webhead's legacy on

Buddy Guy Q&A: Starving in Chicago, Meeting Muddy Waters and the Night Stevie Ray Vaughan Died

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 02:00 PM PDT

Da Capo Press

Mention Sept. 25, 1957 to blues guitar legend Buddy Guy and he could immediately tell you of its significance: On that date, the-then 21-year-old left his home state of Louisiana for Chicago. As he writes in his memoir, When I Left Home, "I think of this date as my birthday. Fact of the matter is, it's my second birthday. It's when I was born again. My life before Sept. 25, 1957 was one thing, and my life after was something else."

When I Left Home, co-written with David Ritz, begins with Guy in Louisiana where his earliest experience with guitar playing was through tin cans and screen wire as a youngster. After moving to the Windy City, Guy met Muddy Waters and became a session player at the legendary Chess Studios. He also describes in the book about meeting and working with other greats such as B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, and the Rolling Stones, as well as his partnership with harmonica player Junior Wells.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Guy, 75, spoke to Spinner to talk about aspects of his extraordinary life that includes overcoming his initial shyness at performing, living without food, meeting Muddy Waters and performing with Stevie Ray Vaughan on the night he died.

In the book, you wrote that your first encounter with music was hearing the birds sing.

I was born on a farm. My mother was singing in church. There were no instruments -- they would sing that old spiritual stuff in the church on Sunday. The birds have a lot to do with it and then the church, the spiritual singing that they would moan and groan. My grandmother used to say, "I'm moaning this song. When I moan, the devil don't know what I'm talking about." And that's when the blues kind of touch you. When I look out and see somebody in the audience, I'd say, "Somebody's mad, but if you sit here for an hour and a half, or two hours, I'm gonna make you smile and forget about that anger that you got. You can pick it up when you leave. But if you watch me, I'm gonna make you forget about it."

This Week in Music History: June 24 - 30 Michael Jackson Died, Pearl Jam Fans Killed, Beyonce Solo'd + Wham! Went-Went

Hector Mata, AFP

The King of Pop Michael Jackson made over $1 billion dollars in 2009.

It was helped by the fact the "Beat It" and "Thriller" singer had an unprecedented year of sales success. That year Jackson sold 8.2 million albums throughout his catalog in the U.S. alone, which was more than any other artist. He also had four separate albums amongst the Top 20 in sales for the year, the first time anyone had ever done that.

Unfortunately, Jackson wasn't around to enjoy this success.

To find out why -- and to also learn about Beyoncé, Chris Isaak and KISS -- just click to launch the gallery below and see what they did to make history this week.
