VIDEO: Marketing For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Goes Subliminal Posted: 08 Jun 2012 10:48 AM PDT Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on "Batman Begins" and the record-breaking blockbuster "The Dark Knight." The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane. During a commercial break of Come Dine With Me on Channel 4 this evening, the logo from The Dark Knight Rises flashed up between each advert, finally culminating with the one labelled "The Legend Ends" as seen in the video below. Posted: 08 Jun 2012 10:17 AM PDT [Click to enlarge] Synopsis:In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO. Previously, the creator of Judge Dredd, John Wagner sung high-praises for the film and it looks like things are on a general upswing for the Lionsgate film. Hopefully, we'll be receiving an official trailer soon. So far, the film looks gritty and violent from the stills that were released but 'judgement' should be reserved until some proper footage is released. The film is currently scheduled for a September 21st release in the US. I was previously concerned that the lack of marketing was an indication that the movie could get pushed but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'd wager that an official trailer is probably around the corner. Running |
BOX OFFICE: PROMETHEUS Makes $3.5M In Midnight Grosses Posted: 08 Jun 2012 10:13 AM PDT Deadline reveals that 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott's Prometheus grossed an impressive $3.561 million in its North American midnight premiere last night, screening at 1,368 North American theaters. The film performed better than recent blockbusters Men In Black 3 and Snow White And The Huntsman (which grossed $1.6M and $1.4M, respectively, in their midnight premieres). The studio has called this a "fantastic star". Concerning how much Prometheus will make in its opening weekend, box office observers are divided. Various estimates are ranging from $35M to $55M+. The movie has the advantage of 3D and IMAX ticket sales to help its intake. Dreamworks' Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (which also opens this week) is expected to take the top spot this weekend, potentially grossing anywhere from $45M to $55M (if not more). Pacific Rim Photo Featuring Idris Elba Posted: 08 Jun 2012 10:40 AM PDT The first photo has been released from Pacific Rim, arriving in theaters July 12, 2013. Take a look at this photo featuring Idris Elba, who plays Stacker Pentecost, and read on to see what director Guillermo del Toro had to say about the scope of this highly-anticipated monster movie. The filmmaker recently spoke about the size and scale of this epic creature feature, and the sets they had to build, only to have them destroyed by the Kaiju monsters. "When we're talking about the physicality of the fight, we ended up building several blocks of Hong Kong. And literally demolished them. We built a building and then we took down the buildings. We built command centers of the robots that were the size of the house. We started them on hydraulic rigs that shoot and elevated them and moved them round so you could really get a sense of the physical nature driving a robot like this." He also revealed this movie marks his best creative experience within the Hollywood studio system. "So much of the creation of the movie was having the best creative experience I've ever had in Hollywood." Pacific Rim comes to theaters July 12th, 2013 and stars Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr., Max Martini, Robert Maillet, Rinko Kikuchi.
