Marc Webb Shares His Thoughts On An AVENGERS Crossover And A SPIDER-WOMAN Movie

Posted: 30 Jun 2012 08:45 AM PDT

"I don't know," Marc Webb told Entertainment Weekly when he was asked about whether or not he will return to helm a follow-up to The Amazing Spider-Man. "I've said this before, but it's like asking a woman who's just given birth if she wants to get pregnant again. You know, I need to nurse the baby for a little while." A sequel to this July's movie may not be the only film Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker/Spider-Man appears in as rumours continue to run rampant that he will make a cameo in a future The Avengers installment. "It certainly would be fun. I can't deny that," added Webb. "But there are all these twists in Spider-Man. There's a lot to explore before that would probably happen." As for whether he'd like to bring Spider-Woman to the big screen at some point, he said: "You never know! I don't know if I'd direct

Joe Jackson Steps Out With Iggy Pop, Questlove on Duke Ellington Covers Album

Joe Jackson arrived on the music scene in 1979 and had a hit single right out of the box in the form of "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" His debut, Look Sharp! was also the first of three albums he made with his original band: Jackson on keyboards and vocals, Gary Sanford on guitar, Graham Maby on bass and Dave Houghton on drums. They were a tight, talented combo but by 1981, Jackson had disbanded them to make a swing album -- one of many left turns he would take in his lengthy career.

In the three decades since then, Jackson has alternated between rock and roll and other genres -- not only swing but also jazz and classical. He recently called Spinner from Germany, where he now makes his home, to discuss his new album, The Duke. Released earlier this week, the LP is a collection of Duke Ellington covers, only the second time in his career that Jackson has recorded an album of songs he didn't write himself. He is joined by an eclectic list of collaborators on the album, to say the least. Iggy Pop contributes vocals to "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" while Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson drums on "Rockin' in Rhythm." Other guests include jazz violinist Regina Carter, rock guitar god Steve Vai and Euro-Latin trio Zuco 103.

Though Jackson has sometimes had a reputation for being reclusive or snobby, nothing could be further from the truth. In conversation, he is often self-deprecating, open and quick to credit others. And his admiration for Ellington goes beyond the music. "When he was starting out [in] the late 1920s, he was a young, very talented black man in a racist society," says Jackson. "And the way he handled that was with complete and utter dignity. I find Ellington a very inspiring figure even though I'm a white guy from England."

When did you first hear Duke Ellington's music?

I must have been around 15 or 16 years old. I don't remember what the first [song] that I heard was but I was certainly aware of Ellington at that point because that was when I got interested in jazz. Later on, I studied it a bit more. You know, when I was a music student, 18, 19, I got more interested, especially in Ellington's later music. So I've been an Ellington fan for a long time.

Tour the Home Michael Jackson Almost Bought

"Extra's" Michael Corbett visited the lavish, $25-million Bel Air palace Michael Jackson was negotiating to buy right before his untimely death in June 2009.

The 20,000 square foot, 15 bedroom, 16 bathroom mansion was modeled after the White House and Versailles. Coldwell-Banker agent Sally Forster Jones said Jackson "just walked in and gasped. He heard about it the property, came to view it and loved it, loved every aspect of it."

Take the grand tour!

Three Reasons CBM Fans Should See TED

Posted: 30 Jun 2012 09:26 AM PDT

Seth McFarlane's TED hit theaters last night, and I have to say that it was pretty darn funny. Seth McFarlane is probably best known for creating FAMILY GUY, but he steps up to the plate as co-writer and director. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and FAMILY GUY regular Mila Kunis. Not only does the film feature a foul-mouthed, pot-smoking teddy bear, but it also make light of child stars, hookers, Boston women, Asians, Jews, Muslims and almost every other race known to man. TED also includes a few things directed specifically to comic book movie fans. Here are the three big ones... There may have been others, but I was too busy laughing to notice. For X-Men Fans the film is narrated by Patrick Stewart, X-Man fans favorite Professor X. You'll definitely hear things that you never thought would come out of Professor X's mouth! Ryan Reynolds Fans will
