Heather Langenkamp Joins Star Trek Into Darkness

Heather Langenkamp has landed a role in Star Trek Into Darkness

When Star Trek hit in 2009, director J.J. Abrams was lauded for expanding the fan base beyond the hard-core Trekkies with a blockbuster that appealed to everyone. It seems the sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, might even appeal to some fans of 80s horror, with the news that A Nightmare on Elm Street star Heather Langenkamp landed a role in the sequel. Here's what she had to say in a recent interview.

"I had the opportunity to play a small part in Star Trek, so I'm looking forward to that. I can't tell you anything about that, but that was a thrill for me. My husband and I worked on the makeup effects for Star Trek. He designed some of them, so that's the thing we're looking forward to most. Hopefully we'll be working on something else in January. We don't know what that will be yet, but hopefully it'll be a really fun job."

The actress also worked on makeup effects for movies such as the Dawn Of The Dead remake, Cinderella Man, and this year's The Cabin in the Woods.

Star Trek Into Darkness comes to theaters May 17th, 2013 and stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

MOCKINGBIRD LANE Featurette Gives You a New Behind-The-Scenes Look

The pilot, written by Bryan Fuller and to be directed by Bryan Singer, is described as a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of "monsters" — vampires, werewolves and Frankenstein, and their "plain" cousin (Charity Wakefield) — that will feature striking visuals in the vein of Fuller's ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies. O'Connell will play family patriarch, the handsome and gangly Herman Munster, a great dad and devoted husband. He is married to Lily, a vampire, with whom he has fathered a 10-year-old boy, Eddie (Mason Cook).
