Ryan Gosling drops out of Logan's Run

Back in February 2011, we reported that Ryan Gosling was finalizing a deal to star in the Logan's Run remake for Warner Bros., reuniting with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. Today, we have word from Variety reporter Justin Kroll that Ryan Gosling is no longer involved.

It isn't known why the actor has parted ways with the sci-fi remake, although it may have something to do with scheduling conflicts. We reported in August that the actor will make his directorial debut with How to Catch a Monster, which he is also starring in alongside Christina Hendricks.

It hasn't been confirmed if Nicolas Winding Refn is still involved with Logan's Run or not. The original was based on William F. Nolan's novel and starred Michael York, Jenny Agutter, and Farrah Fawcett. The story is set in a future where everyone's death is pre-determined. Those who choose to make their own fate are known as "runners," who are hunted by Sandmen. Michael York plays a Sandman who goes on the run himself when his number is up.

Logan's Run is in development . The film is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.

Hugh Jackman Photo Reveals The Wolverine and His Bone Claws!

A new photo has surfaced from the latest issue of Empire Magazine, featuring Hugh Jackman and his bone claws in The Wolverine. The bone claws were featured in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, before Logan became infused with adamantium. Take a look at the photo, then read on for some intriguing revelations from director James Mangold.

Most believed this was another prequel that takes place before the first X-Men trilogy. James Mangold revealed that this is actually set after every previous X-Men movie.

"Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all. Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there's a tremendous sense of isolation for him."

While there will be flashback elements going back to World War II, the bulk of this story will take place in present-day Tokyo, completely outside the the X-Men mythology from previous movies.

"That's something that for me was very important, that I land in a very specific place in his timeline. I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it. The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that's such an interesting part of Logan's character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie."

The Wolverine comes to theaters July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Svetlana Khodchenkova. The film is directed by James Mangold.
