Posted: 10 Jan 2013 10:44 AM PST

This story is just breaking, but according to Deadline.com, it seems that the estate of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel has lost its bid for half the copyright of Superman. Notes the site, "The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal has ruled in Warner Bros.'s favor in the long standing copyright claims with the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel that there was a binding agreement in 2001 giving the studio full rights to the character. The ruling Thursday is basically a green light for Warner Bros. to now move forward with its Superman big screen reboot Man of Steel and other related properties without the specter of further legal action from the creator's heirs hanging over them like Kryptonite." This follows an earlier defeat in a case launched by the estate of co-creator Joe Shuster.

Jack the Giant Slayer 'Fee' Poster Reveals Another Gruesome Giant

Posted: 10 Jan 2013 09:44 AM PST

Warner Bros. is taking an innovative approach when it comes to marketing their 3D epic adventure Jack the Giant Slayer. Instead of putting stars like Ewan McGregor, Nicholas Hoult, and Eleanor Tomlinson on their posters, the latest one-sheets have featured the massive giants that Jack (Nicholas Hoult) must contend with. Today, the studio has unleashed another poster featuring an up close and personal look at one of these giants. This is likely the first of four new posters ("Fee"), with "Fi," "Fo," and "Fum" presumably coming in the next few days. Or possibly even later today.

Jack the Giant Slayer Poster

Jack the Giant Slayer comes to theaters March 1st, 2013 and stars Ewan McGregor, Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Warwick Davis, Bill Nighy, Ian McShane, Ewen Bremner, Eddie Marsan. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

Oscar Nominations 2013: Surprises and Snubs!

Posted: 10 Jan 2013 10:45 AM PST

The 2013 Academy Awards nominations were announced early Thursday morning with comic flair by host Seth MacFarlane and actress Emma Stone. The historic epic "Lincoln" expectedly received many of the noms (12 in all), but there were a few surprises – and marked omissions – on the list.

The Surprises:

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" received a lot of Oscar love. The otherworldly film about a young girl using her immense imagination to overcome dire circumstances garnered several nods, including for Best Picture and a Best Actress nod for 9-year-old star Quvenzhané Wallis, making her the youngest actress to receive an Oscar nomination. The film's director, Benh Zeitlin, surprised many by picking up a Best Director nom, beating a few favorites (see below).
