Michael Keaton Wanted A Third BATMAN Movie To Be An Origin Story Posted: 06 Jan 2013 08:31 AM PST After making 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, director Tim Burton and actor Michael Keaton were attached to a third Batman movie for Warner Bros., the studio decided to move forward with a totally different direction. Instead of a dark and gritty atmosphere, WB figured that a more family-friendly tone would be more successful. Of course, this resulted in Keaton dropping out of the project and Burton being reduced to a producer role for 1995's Batman Forever. Appearing on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast (thanks to ComicBook.com for the transcript), Keaton looks back on how he became interested in playing the Caped Crusader. After doing Beetlejuice with Burton, Keaton was informed of the director's plans for a Batman movie and his interest in the actor reading the script. "I was familiar with the TV show, but I didn't know the whole comic, the pulpy part of it." After reading Frank
Box Office Report: 'Texas Chainsaw 3D' Slices the Competition Posted: 06 Jan 2013 10:42 AM PST The bloody "Texas Chainsaw 3D" topped the box office this weekend with $23M, beating Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" and projected No.1, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." The 3D film picks up where the original 1974 horror series left off, following a woman who inherited the family home. "Django Unchained" came in second with $20M, followed by former three week leader "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" with $17.5M. Over the weekend both "Django" and the film adapted broadway musical "Les Misérables" crossed the $100M milestone since their Christmas Day releases.

Which movie moment scared you the most as a child? Posted: 06 Jan 2013 06:30 AM PST It's strange how the most obscure movie moments can seem terrifying to a child: now I'm older it seems that most people only respond with fear to the film moments that are designed to do exactly that, whereas when I was a kid a scary moment in a film seemed much more personal, varied and unique. What were those absolutely terrifying personal movie moments for you? For me it had to be that robot lady from Superman III - must have been about 5 when I first saw it and I was too scared of that film to watch it again for years. I realise now that a lot of people felt exactly the same way about this, but at the time I felt like I must have been the only one. (Shit - after watching that clip again on youtube I was still a bit apprehensive about seeing it all the way through!) [link] [27 comments]

Guillermo Del Toro On Using The Voice Of GLaDOS In PACIFIC RIM Posted: 06 Jan 2013 06:52 AM PST When the trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim was released last month, many fans noticed that the voice of Portal character GLaDOS (voiced by Ellen McLain) was used. Speaking with Toronto Sun, the director (who's currently promoting the upcoming horror film Mama, which he's producing) reveals that it was his intention to use GLaDOS' voice, as he's a big fan of the video game series. "I wanted very much to have her, because I'm a big Portal fan. But just as a wink. She's not cake-obsessed. She's not out to destroy humanity." Del Toro also looks back on approaching Portal creators Valve for permission to use GLaDOS' voice, despite no plans to have an actual crossover between the two. "I said, 'Look, there's no A.I. I'd rather have than GlaDOS,'" he stated. Despite this, the voice used in the actual movie will be slightly filtered, and that the trailer's use |
