Needless to say, it came as a huge surprise when we learned last year that it wasn't going to be another prequel, but whether or not it will somehow tie-in to the events of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past remains to be seen. Check out some highlights below and be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page to read the interview in full. On How Much Of A Inspiration The Claremont/Miller Series Inspired The Film: A lot of that story and a lot of beats from that saga are in there — and a lot of characters. Without being religious about it, I think it's a very admiring adaptation. Obviously

Elvis & Rock Royalty: Strange Stories of the King's Famous Fans Meeting Their Idol

Elvis Presley, who would have turned 78 on Jan. 8, 2013GAB Archive, Redferns

After a 1976 gig in Memphis, Bruce Springsteen hopped a Graceland gate at 3AM, hoping to meet his idol, Elvis Presley. Just as he was about to knock on the front door, though, a guard stopped him, and Springsteen was escorted off the property.

Since that time, numerous other celebrities -- including Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Katy Perry, Joan Jett, LL Cool J, Taylor Swift and the Beastie Boys -- have toured Graceland. But, like Springsteen, they only saw the King's crib.

Too bad for them. If stories from other celebs are any indication, an Elvis encounter would have been unforgettable. As we honor what would have been Presley's 78th birthday today (Jan. 8), here are some memorable musical meetings with the king of rock and roll.

Alice Cooper

When Cooper arrived at Presley's Vegas penthouse in the early '70s with Liza Minnelli, Chubby Checker and porn star Linda Lovelace -- all invited by Elvis -- he was frisked by a security team. Despite that, Cooper would wind up with a gun in his hand, pointed at Presley.

"Elvis took me into the kitchen, opened a drawer, and pulled out a loaded pistol, telling me to put it to his head," Cooper told the London Mirror.

Fearing what the security guards would do if they saw him pointing a .32-caliber gun at their boss, the famously macabre Cooper said he felt conflicted.

"A little voice in my left ear was telling me, 'Go on, this is history -- kill him. You'll always be the guy who killed Elvis.'" That's when he encountered Presley's karate training.

"A fraction of a second later Elvis did a flying kick on the gun and sent it flying, before tripping me and pinning me to the ground by my neck, announcing, 'That's how you stop a man with a gun.'"

Director Mark Romanek's Live Action Cinderella Is Too Dark for Disney

Posted: 07 Jan 2013 09:39 PM PST

Mark Romanek drops Out of Disney's Cinderella

Director Mark Romanek had very dark ideas in bringing the classic fairy tale Cinderella to life as a live action movie for Disney. The proposed material was so edgy, in fact, that the studio has now parted ways with Romanek, who was collaborating on the screenplay.

Cate Blanchett is set to star as the evil stepmother with Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and Gabriella Wilde all competing for the title role. Aline Brosh McKenna and Chris Weitz will continue working on the screenplay as the hunt for a new director begins.

Here is a statement released by the studio confirming the separation.

"The Walt Disney Studios and Mark Romanek have parted ways on Disney's Cinderella project. We are committed to moving the project forward and have begun the search for a new director. The team here at Disney respects Mark as both a director and a friend, and we hope to find something to work on together in the future."

The dark material proposed by Romanek should have come as no surprise to Disney. The man made his feature length directorial debut with the dark thriller One Hour Photo, which starred Robin Williams as a man obsessed with and stalking the family whose photos he develops on a regular basis. It has not yet been revealed what the director was planning to do with Cinderella, but there's a good chance it would have been more interesting than what we will eventually get from Disney.

Cinderella comes to theaters in 2014 and stars Cate Blanchett.

FREE DRAWING: Win A Copy Of BOY WONDER On DVD

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 09:39 AM PST

A while ago I came across the poster for a movie called Boy Wonder, and was instantly curious about both the title and the image of the main character all brooding and face-painted. Very super-heroish right? So I watched the movie and was very impressed indeed, although it was nothing like I was expecting at all. Boy Wonder is a dark tale of revenge and obsession with a sting in the tail. It features top notch performances from a relatively unknown cast, as well as a very assured directorial debut from Michael Morrissey, who also wrote the script. The movie has been out a while, but Morrissey has been teasing a possible sequel (more on that at a later date) so we've decided to put three copies up for grabs on DVD. THREE WAYS TO WIN 1. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Set Attacked by Wire Thieves

Posted: 08 Jan 2013 09:34 AM PST

Anchorman: The Legend of Continues set becomes the victim of wire theives

The Paramount Pictures sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues is set to start shooting in Atlanta, Georgia soon, though the production has hit a weird little snag. Wire Thieves made off with over $300,000 in wiring that was stripped clean from a warehouse being prepped for this newsroom comedy. Also stolen were four computers, though it isn't known if any Ron Burgundy production materials were being stored on their hard drives.

The burglary, which was reported on December 27, is one of several break-ins that have occurred in the area. The sport of wire pilfering has become popular amongst out of work lowlives looking to make a quick buck from the valuable copper. According to the incident report, the thieves entered through a rear garage door, using a winch to strip the wiring from the walls. A $5,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest.

A production start date has not been confirmed for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which brings back Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate from the 2004 hit Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. We reported last month that Paramount will release the sequel in December.

Will Wire Thieves become a running gag in the film? It's very likely.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues comes to theaters December 20th, 2013 and stars Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Christina Applegate, Luke Wilson, David Koechner. The film is directed by Adam McKay.
