Zee Avi Celebrates Life in 'The Book of Morris Johnson' -- Video Premiere Posted: 01 Aug 2011 02:00 PM PDT Brushfire 'The Book of Morris Johnson' features anthemic hand claps, island-hopping lazy-day ukulele and Zee Avi's incredibly easy alto vocals. The song's accompanying video is a whimsical jungle-themed dream, complete with a dance trio and a sea of neon that Avi coasts slowly along in a canopied boat. |
Posted: 01 Aug 2011 11:02 AM PDT The late Amy Winehouse was reportedly in the process of adopting a 10-year-old St. Lucian girl, Dannika Augustine, when the singer suddenly passed away, according to The Mirror, but it's apparently not so. Amy's rep set the record straight, saying, "There's no truth to it. I think [Amy] might have met her in St. Lucia, but she was in no way about to adopt her." Though her father claimed his daughter was clean and sober at the time of her death, Winehouse still had her share of problems that would've raised many red flags for the adoption board. The Mirror claimed Winehouse's camp had already hired lawyers and booked a flight to St. Lucia - where the singer spent a lot of time. During her stay on the island, the 27-year-old befriended Dannika, whom she met in 2009 through the 10-year-old's grandmother, Marjorie Lambert, who runs a beach bar. Dannika is not an orphan - she has a mother and grandmother, but her mother reportedly was willing to give her up for adoption because she struggled to provide for her family and did not have a job. "Amy was already my mother," the child told the paper. "I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me. "She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me." |
Marvel Moving Forward With Dr Strange Posted: 01 Aug 2011 10:43 AM PDT Seen by many as a second tier character in the Marvel Universe, Dr Stephen Strange is nonetheless one of it's most popular. And fans have been crying out for Marvel Studious to give The Sorcerer Supreme the big screen treatment for years now. Last we had heard Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer were brought in to draft a script, but aside from the likes of Kevin Feige and Stan Lee confirming that the wheels were in motion, we haven't had anything else solid until now. From Twitchfilm.. Twitch has learned that Oppenheimer and Donnelly have now turned in their script and Marvel is pushing forward with the property. Marvel has drafted a short list of directors to approach on the title and is forwarding the current script to each to try and sign someone up to 'oversee continued development'. If this is on the level, and you can pretty much bet it is, expect |
The Three Musketeers Korean Poster Posted: 01 Aug 2011 10:31 AM PDT A Korean poster for Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers has been released, and this new 1-sheet depicts two floating battleships engaged in a cannonball fight while sailing through the clouds. Is it an accurate depiction of the film itself? Are there flying pirate ships in this version of The Three Musketeers? I don't think so, but honestly, I have no idea...Check out this weird and possibly misleading image below. The Three Musketeers comes to theaters October 14th, 2011 and stars Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Orlando Bloom, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Matthew Macfadyen, Mads Mikkelsen, Milla Jovovich. The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. |

Set Construction Begins On The Avengers In Cleveland...Is It Stark Tower?! Posted: 01 Aug 2011 10:33 AM PDT Midwest Movie Maker have posted some photos of Ameritrust Tower in Cleveland (the building next door, also abandoned, was used in Spider-Man 3) featuring the construction of a new entrance. What is it for? Well, that's a fairly modern looking design which has led many locals to speculate that it may have something to do with either Stark Tower or S.H.I.E.L.D. Personally, I'd say either one of these is pretty likely, but the site promise an update in a few days time when the work is completed, and there are hopefully signs put up. What do you guys think? Pretty unrevealing I know, so here's hoping we end up getting some set photos as good as the ones we had for Captain America: The First Avenger last year and The Dark Knight Rises over the past few days! Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne Marries Couple Onstage to Close Osheaga Festival Posted: 01 Aug 2011 01:15 PM PDT Filed under: Concerts and Tours, News, Exclusive Shirlaine Forrest, WireImage As the band played a lovely muzak version of the band's mega-hit 'Do You Realize,' Wayne explained the situation, officiating in a uniquely Flaming Lips manner. "By the power of the Flaming Lips, the universe and LSD, I now pronounce you man and wife!" he exclaimed as the band kicked in to a full-blown celebratory version of their most famous tune. It was the end to the most balanced program of the three-day festival, which kicked off July 29. After Friday's top-heavy event (thanks to headliner Eminem) and Saturday's poorly attended finale (Elvis Costello wasn't the draw organizers hoped), it was a welcome change. |
Vintage 2011 Boasts Stylish, Best-Looking Crowd of the Festival Season Posted: 01 Aug 2011 01:00 PM PDT Filed under: Concerts and Tours, News John Phillips, UK Press/PA The Torch Club brought to life the swing sounds of the 40s as the area on the ground floor was convincingly transformed into a wartime ballroom replete with swish curtains, twinkling lights and swing bands. For those who found those sounds a little too contemporary for their tastes there was always The Cotton Club, a credible and evocative take on the Golden Age of Jazz. The note perfect music by the likes of the Shirt Tail Stompers was accompanied by a cavalcade of zoot suits, military garb and flapper dresses. |
