Stage Collapse at Sugarland Concert Kills 5

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 10:32 AM PDT

A stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair Saturday night killing five people, moments before the country band Sugarland was to perform. The main stage fell on the crowd waiting for Sugarland to perform after being blasted by winds as strong as 60 to 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service. There were also 45 people injured.
Shortly after the accident, Sugarland said on Twitter: "We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you will join us. They need our strength." Sugarland's lead singer Jennifer Nettles later expressed her horror in a statement to Associated Press, saying there were "no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity." The state police, monitoring the severe weather, were preparing to evacuate the area but weren't able to in time. Scores of concertgoers rushed to the stage to lift broken scaffolding and equipment off people. "People put themselves in jeopardy...and it's gratifying to know that at a moment's notice people will jump in to help others," said Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers.

Captain America Producer Talks About Bringing Steve Back To Queens In Future Movies!

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 10:01 AM PDT

"There's great opportunity for that," producer Stephen Broussard told Daily News about possibly revisiting the fairgrounds in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. "Absolutely, there's more to explore there. It's a real place. That always helps people connect to these characters." He apparently refused to reveal which movie will see Captain America return to his old stomping grounds, but went on to further discuss why Flushing Meadows (which also appeared in Iron Man 2) is the perfect location to ground a character like Steve Rogers in the real world. The fairs proffered "hope and promise of a better tomorrow" even amid rough times, like a superhero does he added. "It carries with it an iconography that helps set it in the place. It was very important to us that we got some of the same imagery." So, what of Cap's arrival in the present day? "One of the things he's going to want to

Nicki Minaj Gives Drake a Lap Dance at Britney Spears Concert in Toronto

Drake, Nick MinajJosh Ostroff for AOL

Drake's surprise appearance during Nicki Minaj's opening set on Britney Spear's 'Femme Fatale' tour stop Saturday night (Aug. 13) in Toronto wasn't that much of a surprise.

After all, the hometown hero has been entertaining himself between summertime recording sessions for his sophomore album by appearing all over town, be it supporting friends like the Weeknd (for the R&B sensation's debut gig) and Serena Williams (competing in the Rogers Cup) or dropping his guest verses with touring acts like SBTRKT and Rihanna.

Still, that didn't prevent the arena crowd from losing their collective minds -- and possibly damaging their collective vocal chords -- when he appeared from backstage to join in on his hit joint with Minaj, 'Moment 4 Life.'

I'm watching They Live for the first time. Why won't he just put the damn glasses on!?

Ror Reviews: Fright Night 3D

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 09:17 AM PDT

Sorry, but I promise that will be the one and only Vamp pun in the entire review! The original Fright Night has become something of a cult classic over the years. It wasn't what you would call a great movie by any real critical standards but it pulled off that most difficult blend of comedy and horror very well and showcased some inventive gore and special effects. So when I heard that a new version was to be the latest product of the Hollywood remake machine I was pretty skeptical. Just didn't see the point, but in this day and age you kinda have to stop thinking that way and just hope that the remakes at least do a good job. Well I'm happy to report that Craig Gilespie's new Fright Night is one of the good ones, in fact a very good one. The basic plot is pretty much exactly the

Guitar Great Steve Cropper Stays 'Dedicated' to His Early Heroes

Rick Diamond/WireImage

Steve Cropper was amazed to learn recently that he has played on more than 3,000 records. Many of those have been stone classics, such as Otis Redding's '(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay,' Wilson Pickett's 'In the Midnight Hour' and Sam and Dave's 'Soul Man,' on which Sam Moore famously hollered "Play it, Steve!"

Those sessions Cropper remembers well. His recollections of other, less illustrious recordings: not so much.

"I'm a Top 40 record guy," says the guitarist, 69. "I remember the hits and don't remember the flops. Something in my brain blocks them out. Now and then, someone will play an album cut, and I'll go, 'Dang, that's me!'"
