STAR TREK 2: Alex Kurtzman Praises Cumberbatch; Hints At Story Element Posted: 04 Apr 2012 10:22 AM PDT Alex Kurtzman has given an update on the filming of the highly anticipated Star Trek Sequel. He says that it's going "unbelievably well" and that the "finish line is in sight". He also has some very nice things to say about new cast addition Benedict Cumberbatch. The Sherlock actor, who will play the still unnamed villain, is described as "magnetic".. "He's incredible. What he does with language is incredible. His training is amazing and he's so magnetic, he holds the screen in any size frame, he really is a joy to watch." After a bit of gushing over the movie's director J.J Abrams, Kurtzman goes on to talk about the plot of the sequel. He gives very little away, but does reveal that although the crew of The Enterprise might have seemed like a well oiled machine by the end of the last movie, we can expect a bit of conflict this |

Gary Ross Unlikely To Return For THE HUNGER GAMES Sequel? Posted: 04 Apr 2012 10:26 AM PDT The Hollywood Reporter reveal that The Hunger Games director Gary Ross (who unlike stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, is not signed up for a sequel) may not return to helm the planned follow up. After taking $3 million to write and direct the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel, as well as a 5% backend, sources now indicate that Ross wants a significant raise for Catching Fire. Negotiations are said to have been rocky so far, with the director yet to revise Slumdog Millionaire's Simon Beaufoy's script. The studio are in a rush to start production this Fall, although Fox may still ruin their plans if they decide to exercise their option to bring back Jennifer Lawrence for an X-Men: First Class sequel first (as previously reported here on CBM, their option beats Lionsgate's). However, other sources indicate that Ross will indeed return for the film which is |

Benedict Cumberbatch Is 'Magnetic' in Star Trek 2 Says Alex Kurtzman Posted: 04 Apr 2012 09:25 AM PDT Star Trek 2 is currently in production, and one of the primary cast additions is Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the mysterious villain. Producer Alex Kurtzman recently praised the British actor's work in this sci-fi sequel. "He's incredible. What he does with language is incredible. His training is amazing and he's so magnetic, he holds the screen in any size frame, he really is a joy to watch." The writer-producer also spoke highly of his director, J.J. Abrams, revealing he is staying true to this iconic franchise. "The movie is going unbelievably well. J.J. as usual is crushing it, he's doing an amazing amazing job. I think as much as we put all of our love and effort into the first one, there's even more in this one and he is really, he's such an exacting and beautiful director. What I watch him do, it's so amazing, he inspires everybody around him and he's been so utterly true to everything that we all have honored and loved about Trek so that's kind of where we're at right now. The finish line is in sight." We still don't have much information on the story line for this follow-up, although he teased that this new crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise are still going through some growing pains as a unit. "Without spoiling anything, the challenge is that you don't want to jump too far ahead and assume that just because they got together they're all comfortable with each other. They're still all working out their kinks and still becoming the bridge crew that we remember from the series. That's still very much alive and look, any good sequel is about the challenge that the group faces in order to become the unified team and I think that that challenge in this movie is going to be hopefully amazing." Star Trek 2 comes to theaters May 17th, 2013 and stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams. |
